Porsche may seem to have stolen the spotlight from all the manufacturers ahead of the Geneva Motor Show. Why? Because of the Panamera Sport Turismo, or, more affectionately, the Panamera wagon. However, Mercedes-Benz may seem to have Porsche's number in this case as well. How? It has teased the GT Sedan Concept that will be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show.
Mercedes-Benz has long been rumoured to be working on a car derivative based on the AMG GT's platform. What few people could guess was a sedan coming out of the platform. The GT Sedan Concept seems more like a stretched AMG GT coupe in the teaser image. If that is the case, the GT Sedan Concept is sure to look as great as the AMG GT, which is among the most beautiful sports cars in the world.
This isn't the first time Mercedes has toyed with the idea of a high-performance saloon. There were rumours back when the SLS AMG hit the market that its creator might be toying with the idea of a four-door performance car. That never came to fruition but Mercedes, it seems, never gave up on the idea as such. In the market, the GT Sedan Concept, if it becomes real, will fight for supremacy against the likes of the Panamera from Porsche and the M6 Gran Coupe from BMW. Exciting times are ahead of us, starting from the Geneva Motor Show. Don't miss the GT Sedan Concept and our coverage of the Geneva Motor Show, only on ZigWheels.
