Mahindra XUV300 Petrol Finally Gets An Automatic Option

Mahindra has also enhanced the top-spec variant and has made a certain high-end feature more accessible

  • The AMT option is offered from the W6 variant onwards.

  • Top-spec W8 (O) AMT variant now gets BlueSense Plus connected car tech.

  • Electric sunroof will be on offer from the W6 variant onwards at prices starting from Rs 9.40 lakh (ex-showroom).

  • Red and Aquamarine dual-tone body shades added for the W8 (O) AMT; Galaxy Grey for manual W6, W8, and W8(O) variants..

When Mahindra had introduced a 6-speed AMT (sourced from Magneti Marelli) to the XUV300 back in July 2019, it was only offered for the 1.5-litre diesel engine. Well, Mahindra has finally provided the 6-speed AMT AutoSHIFT to its 1.2-litre petrol engine. Like the diesel motor, the AMT will be offered from the W6 variant onwards, at prices starting from Rs 9.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Here’s how the new petrol AMT variants compare to their 6-speed manual counterparts:

Petrol Manual

Petrol AMT

Rs 9.40 lakh

Rs 9.95 lakh

W8 (O)

Rs 11.12 lakh

Rs 11.77 lakh

All prices ex-showroom

The above table indicates that the petrol AMT variants will garner a premium of Rs 55,000 for the W6 variant and Rs 65,000 over the top-spec W8 (O). Compare that to the diesel variants, and the W6 diesel AMT is dearer by Rs 67,000 at Rs 10.62 lakh, with the W8 diesel (O) AMT being pricier by Rs 78,000 over its petrol-powered counterpart at 12.55 lakh.

The XUV300 AMT’s 1.2-litre petrol engine makes 110PS and 200Nm. The 6-speed AutoSHIFT AMT has some nifty tech to it, including manual mode, creep function, adaptive pedal response, tap to switch, and hill-hold assist. Mahindra also provides the petrol motor with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The carmaker has also equipped the top-spec W8 (O) AMT with BlueSense Plus connected technology. It gets 40+ features, including remote door lock/unlock, live vehicle tracking, Geofencing, AC and infotainment system controls, and more

Previously, the electric sunroof was limited to the top-spec W8 (O). Now, it will be provided with the mid-spec variant as well, for both petrol and diesel engines with manual/automatic options. Prices of the electric sunroof-equipped W6 petrol start from Rs 9.4 lakh (ex-showroom). While two dual-tone shades -- Red/White and Aquamarine/White -- have been added to the W8 (O) AMT, a Galaxy Grey colour option has been introduced for the manual W6, W8, and W8(O) variants

Bookings for the petrol AMT have commenced, with deliveries set to begin later this month. The Mahindra XUV300 retails from Rs 7.95 lakh to Rs 12.55 lakh (ex-showroom), and rivals the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite, and the upcoming Renault Kiger.
