In case you were planning to get the Mahindra Marazzo home after New Year, there is some bad news. Thanks to the high demand for the MPV, Mahindra has decided to increase prices starting January 2019.
The seven-seater shark-inspired MPV from the homegrown carmaker will cost you more by up to Rs 40,000 from next year onwards. The hike doesn’t come as a surprise though as Mahindra had announced at the time of the launch that prices revealed then were just introductory. So far, Mahindra has gotten a better-than-expected response for the competitively priced MPV,which slots neatly between the lower priced Ertiga and the much more premium Innova Crysta.
The Mahindra Marazzo is a truly global product, with most of the development of the MPV done at the company’s MANA (Mahindra Automotive North America) development centre in Detroit, design inputs taken from subsidiary Pininfarina and of course the Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai and Mahindra headquarters in Nashik. With bookings of well above 10,000 now and sales of around 3,000-3,500 units every month, the step up in quality seems to have struck all the right chords. However, it would be interesting to see how it fares against the updated Maruti Ertiga due for launch soon.
What do you think - will the price hike and the upcoming Ertiga prove to be a hurdle for the Marazzo in 2019? Let us know in the comments section below.
