It's finally happening, Lamborghini has unleashed its last ever iteration of the Aventador, called the Aventador Ultimae. Offered in coupe and roadster form, the Sant'Agata Bolognese couldn’t have had a better way to give the iconic supercar its last hurrah with what it's capable of.

Starting with its trusty 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 motor, the Aventador Ultimae is the most powerful Aventador in the lineup, delivering 780PS and 720Nm. Weighing in at 1,550kg, it is 25kg lighter than the Aventador S, while retaining the SVJ’s power-to-weight ratio of 1.98 kg/PS. Paired to an Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) 7-speed gearbox and an all-wheel drivetrain, it hits 0-100kmph in just 2.8 seconds, and tops out at 355kmph.

Other performance wizardry is achieved from four-wheel steering, as well as four drive modes: Strada, Sport, Corsa, and Ego. The Ego mode is more of a custom mode where you can set optimum parameters for Lamborghini active suspension (LMS), engine, gearbox and four-wheel drive as well as steering response.

As insane as the Aventador Ultimae is in performance, it also has a poster-worthy design. At the front, a new sportier front bumper is present with a pronounced front splitter to aid aerodynamics. While the rear diffuser and exhaust setup is a straight lift from the SVJ, there is an active rear wing that can be set in three positions – closed, maximum performance and maximum handling - depending on the speed and drive mode. It will also get 20- and 21-inch forged alloy wheels in a variety of design options.

Inside, it gets a customizable TFT digital driver display, Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, and voice commands. Lamborghini is also offering an optional telemetry system for those wanting to throw the Aventador around a racetrack.

The Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae marks the end of a journey spanning more than a decade. This final iteration of the supercar will also be hard to get, as only 350 coupe and 250 roadster units will be produced.

Lamborghini’s future will be electrification, as the carmaker plans to have hybrid versions of the Urus SUV, the Huracan, and the successor to the Aventador by 2024. The carmaker will also introduce its first all-electric model by 2030.
