Kia Sonet Interior Detailed: In Pictures

The Kia Sonet has been revealed and we got to spend some time with the production-spec model. My colleague, Tushar, has done a proper first look story where he explains everything about this SUV. In this report, though, we pore over in detail over the Sonet’s interior design. Grab some popcorn and swipe down. 

First, have a long glance at this image above. Don’t you see some influence here? Well, that’s because the Sonet’s dash borrows plenty of bits from the bigger Seltos. It’s also offered in two colour schemes depending on the variant you pick. You can have a look at how the variants differ right here. 

The larger 10.25-inch infotainment system is a direct lift from the Seltos. This unit is snappy and has good quality graphics. It also comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, inbuilt navigation and Kia’s UVO connected car technology.

Audiophiles, rejoice! Top-spec Sonets comes with a Bose sound system that packs in 7 speakers with a subwoofer. To complement your music, the Sonet also comes with Sound Mood Lighting. 

Even the sleek 3-spoke steering wheel is a direct lift from the Seltos. Its quality is good and the controls are large and chunky. The left spoke houses controls for the infotainment system while the right spoke features cruise control and multi-info display controls. That’s where the similarities between both cars end. 

Behind the steering wheel is a funky digital instrument cluster. On the left hand side you’ve an analogue tachometer while on the other side, you have a fuel gauge and temperature gauge. The 4.2-inch coloured multi-info display also packs information like distance to empty, average and instantaneous fuel consumption, a compass and readings for the tyre pressure monitor. 

Below the infotainment system is the detailed central console which packs in climate control knobs. This setup along with the vertically stacked AC vents look funky yet minimalist. Also, notice the buttons for the drive modes, traction modes and ventilated seats below. 

Just below the central console is the slot to place your phone, which also has a wireless phone charger. If your phone doesn’t support wireless charging, fret not: Kia has provided two USB charging ports and a 12V power socket here. 

The gear lever in the automatic variant is well finished. It must be mentioned that the Sonet offers a full fledged segment-first 6-speed automatic transmission in the diesel variant. 

 

GT Line variants come with a sporty metal finish on the pedals.  

 Kia offers two cup holders between the seats and the cubby hole under the armrest for your stuff.  

Speaking of storage spaces, the front and rear door pockets are accommodating and can hold a regular-sized bottle. 

The seats come draped in leatherette upholstery and look large and welcoming. GT Line variants also get a badging to denote that it’s the sportier variant here. 

Oh wait, did we miss something? Look on top and the Sonet comes with a sunroof. A feature in high demand, right?

You also get to breathe clean air in the Sonet’s cabin courtesy the air purifier.   

Rear seat occupants also have dedicated AC vents and a USB charging port to juice up your phone or your kid’s iPad.

 

The Sonet’s boot appears large and well shaped. Kia is yet to give a figure, but we believe it’ll fit your family’s luggage for that occasional weekend trip. The Venue’s boot, for reference, offers 350 litres of space. 

The Kia Sonet is expected to reach showrooms by September 2020 and we expect it to be priced from Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom). It will fight it out with the Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, and the Hyundai Venue.
