Kia’s third product for India holds a lot of promise

Had your eyes set on Kia’s Sonet? Well, the carmaker has just announced that it’ll launch the Sonet on September 18. Kia’s third model in the country after the Seltos and Carnival, the Sonet could be the Korean carmaker’s cash cow in the country if priced right.

It sits in the hotly contested sub-4 metre SUV segment which includes well-established players such as the Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon. Naturally, Kia has done all it could to ensure the Sonet enters the segment with a bang.

For starters, the Sonet is offered in six variants: HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and GTX+. These are spread between two broad trims: Tech Line and GT Line. Click here to know how the Sonet Tech Line differs from the GT Line trim.

Then there’s the super long list of features. Highlights include a large 10.25-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car technology, a sunroof, Bose sound system, ambient lighting, wireless phone charger, climate control, cruise control, a semi-digital instrument panel, drive modes, traction modes and even ventilated seats! Safety features include up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera and electronic stability control. Phew!

The Sonet also boasts of a premium design which is bound to stand out, in fact, most of the concept’s design elements have been retained. The GT Line variants also get red accents that add to the sporty factor. Even the interior is premium with several design details borrowed from the Seltos.
