Kia’s third model for India holds a lot of promise

Kia Motors India is all set to launch the Sonet tomorrow on September 18. The Sonet is Kia’s third model in the country and will sit in the hotly contested sub-4 metre SUV segment that consists of well-established players like the Hyundai Venue and Tata Nexon. Here are five things you need to know ahead of the Sonet ahead of its launch:

Two Broad Trims For Different Tastes

The Kia Sonet will be offered in two broad trims: GT Line and Tech Line, with GT being the most premium trim. The former takes a more sportier approach with a dash of red on the bumpers, doors and brake callipers. Moreover, you have six variants to choose from: HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, and GTX+. And to make life difficult while booking the SUV, each variant gets their unique choice of colour options as well. Phew!

Wide Range Of Engine Options

The Sonet’s powertrain list is almost as big as your luxury hotel’s menu card. It comes with three engine options: a 1.2-litre petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol. While the first two will come with a manual gearbox, the turbo-petrol is offered with a clutchless manual only. Automatic options are limited to the diesel and turbo-petrol variants.
