The 2021 Sonet will likely be introduced on April 27 at Kia’s ‘Big Event’. Vehicles sporting the revised logo have already started reaching dealerships. However, the latest pictures reveal that updates are not only limited to the new monogram; a few top-spec features have now made their way lower down the order.
HTX Variant To Come With Automatic Transmissions

The HTX will replace the Sonet's HTK+ as the base automatic variant. Earlier limited to the iMT (with turbo-petrol) and manual (with diesel) transmissions, the Sonet HTX will now come paired with a DCT and automatic as well. The former can be hand with the turbo-petrol motor, while the latter is mated to the diesel unit. Both the variants will also come with drive and traction modes, an electronic stability control-based feature that was earlier limited to the top-spec GTX+.
New Features On Offer?

Kia seems to have provided the 2021 Sonet with two new features: paddle shifters and sun shades for rear occupants. Also, some elements from the top-spec variants will be introduced lower down the order.
The sunroof, currently offered from HTX onwards, will now come as standard, starting from the HTK+ (iMT).
Rear sunshades and paddle shifters (available with the automatic variants only) will be offered from the HTX.
16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels will now be offered from the HTX. Currently, it comes with silver wheels.
Keyless entry will be provided with the 1.2-litre HTK+. The other two powertrains (in the same trim) will be offered with keyless entry with push-button start.
Thanks to the addition of smart key in the HTK+ (turbo-petrol and diesel powertrains), you will be able to start the Sonet remotely using the key fob.
Safety features like electronic stability control, hill start assist, brake assist, and vehicle stability management will now be offered from the HTK+.
Sonet Prices And Rivals

Currently, the Kia Sonet is priced from Rs 6.79 lakh to Rs 13.09 lakh (ex-showroom). However, considering all the updates, we expect a few variants to retail at a slightly higher price. The 2021 Sonet will rekindle rivalries with the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
