The rendered drawings confirm the design and interior details spotted in spy pics earlier

  • Hyundai Venue official sketches confirm the wide stance and chunky design.
  • Sketches show eccentric wheel arches with massive tyres, which are unlikely to make it to the production version.
  • Venue to get a host of segment-first connectivity features.
  • India launch to happen in May.

South Korean carmaker Hyundai has released the first design sketches of its hotly anticipated sub-four metre SUV, the Venue. With the global reveal alongside its India debut scheduled for 17 April 2019, the latest sketches come days after the SUV was spied without camouflage in India. These design sketches along with the multiple teasers and spy pics released earlier give us a fair sense of what to expect from the latest kid on the block.

What’s clearly evident from the rendered drawings is that the Venue will be a wide and chunky SUV. As seen in the spy shots, Hyundai’s wide cascading grille takes up most of the space at the front. What’s also confirmed from the sketches is the bumper-integrated headlight assembly, which gives the Venue a very modern looking front facia. While the exaggerated wheel arches will not make it to the production version, the Venue will get 16-inch dual-tone alloys shod with 205/60 rubber, at least on the top variants. Other intriguing elements include a blacked out A-pillar and roof rails, which would give the SUV a sporty appeal.

At the rear, the boxy styling cues continue to take prominence. With a rather upright tailgate and squarish tail lights at the back, Hyundai has tried to keep things simple.

Coming to the interior, the sketch confirms most of the details that we had already seen in spy pictures. These include a floating touchscreen infotainment system flanked by aircon vents, a flat-top dash, circular dials for the climate control, ample storage space and a chunky steering wheel. The interior sketch also features the driver operating the Venue’s connected features through a mobile application, thus emphasising the smart connectivity that the Venue will come with.

Set to be revealed on 17 April 2019 at the New York International Motor Show and in India simultaneously, the Venue will be launched in May. It will take on the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport and the XUV300 in India, and is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 8 lakh to 12 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
