The Hero Electric AE-47 has been unveiled at Auto Expo 2020 along with two new electric scooters and an electric trike. The new electric motorcycle gets a host of features and performance to bring the fight up to the Revolt RV 400. Hero Electric plans to launch the AE-47 by the end of 2020.

The AE-47 gets a neo-retro design cue with a round headlamp and a small fairing on top. It is a feature-packed motorcycle with a USB charger, cruise control, 2 ride modes, walk and reverse assist, geo-fencing, GPS, SIM and Bluetooth connectivity, and an app that allows you to track the motorcycle in real-time.

Power comes from a 4kW hub motor that, according to Hero electric, helps it accelerate from 0-60kmph in 9 seconds and reach a top speed of 85kmph. It gets a removable 3.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It has a claimed range of 160km in Eco mode and 85km in Power mode. According to the manufacturer, the battery can be fully charged in four hours.

Suspension components include upside down fork and monoshock. Braking is via a 290mm front disc with radially mounted caliper and a 215mm rear disc with combi-braking. The tyres on the displayed motorcycle were a Chinese make but we expect the production version to have locally sourced tyres.

The brand hasn’t revealed the price yet, but it is expected to be between Rs 1.3 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
