After four years, Ford is all set to refresh the EcoSport tomorrow, on November 9. The official bookings had already started last week and the company also offered the option to book the EcoSport through Amazon for 24 hours, on November 5.
From the outside, you'll notice that the front profile is redesigned; it now flaunts a bigger grille. Along with that, you also get projector headlamps with DRLs on either flank. Walk around the SUV, and you'll notice little to no updates on the rear or on the side, except for the new set of 17-inch alloy wheels.
The cabin, however, features more prominent changes. Inside, you get an 8-inch floating touchscreen unit, which comes with Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system. It offers support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The lower variants also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but with a 6.5-inch infotainment unit. The central console and the steering wheel, along with the instrument cluster have been reworked, and now feature a similar layout as seen on the new Ford Fiesta.
What's in the box? The EcoSport facelift now gets a new 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine, which replaces the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine and the 1.0-litre EcoBoost has been shelved as well. The new 3-cylinder motor churns out 123PS of max power at 6500rpm while developing 150Nm of peak torque at 4500rpm. The transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed auto. You can no longer opt for the 6-speed dual clutch transmission.
The 1.5-litre diesel engine, on the other hand, produces, the same 100PS of power at 3750rpm and 205Nm of torque at 1750 - 3250rpm as we've seen on the older model. The transmission here is the same 5-speed gearbox as seen before. It’ll go against the likes of Maruti Viatara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the Honda WR-V
