  • The Figo/Aspire AT came with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 6-speed torque converter.
  • The AT on both models were available in a single Titanium variant only.
  • Ford could introduce the AT with the 1.2-litre Dragon petrol engine in both models.

Ford India has discontinued the Figo and Aspire automatic variants in India. As per a leaked document, bookings have been stopped across India for the AT variants. Interestingly, the document also states, ‘The New AT will be a subject of a future communication’. This could mean that Ford India may introduce the automatic variants with a new engine at a later date. Also, the Deep Impact Blue and Absolute Black shade won’t be available in the MY2020 models.

The Figo/Aspire AT will be dropped from the official website on January 15. Both models are available in the Titanium trim only. It comes with the rev-happy 1.5-litre Dragon petrol engine that’s found under the hood of the EcoSport as well. It develops 123PS of power, 150Nm of torque, and comes mated to a 6-speed torque converter. The reason for discontinuation of the AT variant in both models is yet to be known.

Ford India might introduce the automatic transmission in the 1.2-litre petrol variants. It would make sense as the smaller engine will sit in a lower tax bracket and could help Ford position both models aggressively in terms of price. The 1.2-litre Dragon petrol engine currently develops 96PS of power and 120Nm of torque. It remains to be seen if Ford utilises the 6-speed torque converter in the future for both models.
