It's the second plug-in-hybrid model revealed this year after the Bentayga Hybrid

  • Powertrain setup comprises a 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine, and an electric motor.

  • 0-100kmph is achieved in 4.1 seconds, with a top speed of 285kmph.

  • It is claimed to garner 700km of combined driving range and all-electric range upto 40km.

  • Exterior highlights include hybrid badges, and more alloy wheel options.

  • Cabin receives hybrid-specific graphics and information on the heads up display, touchscreen and digital instrument cluster.

After introducing the Bentley Bentayga plug-in-hybrid in January , the British carmaker has unleashed its second plug-in-hybrid offering for 2021, the Flying Spur Hybrid. Essentially, it's the same Flying Spur, but with relatively cleaner propulsion.

The main talking point is of course under the hood. Combine a 410PS 2.9-litre V6 petrol motor, and a 136PS electric motor, you get a total of 544PS power and 750Nm. That’s a whole 95PS  more than the Bentayga Hybrid. This gives the Flying Spur Hybrid a 0-97kmph sprint in just 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 285kmph.

The electric motor is juiced up by a 14.1kWh lithium ion battery and can be charged to 100 percent in just two and a half hours. This contributes to a combined driving range of more than 700km, with all-electric propulsion garnering a WLTP-claimed 40km of range.

There’s also three driving modes: EV Drive, Hybrid Mode and Hold Mode. As the name suggests, the first mode allows for pure-electric driving, while the second mode utilizes both the petrol and electric motor to boost driving range. The third mode helps conserve battery energy for later use.

Aside from this, the Flying Spur Hybrid is largely similar to its internal combustion engine counterparts on the outside, with hybrid badging on the lower front fender. Alongside the standard 20-inch  wheels, there will also be optional 21-inch and 22-inch wheels on offer. What’s different inside is the presence of hybrid-specific graphics and information on the heads up display, touchscreen and digital instrument cluster.

The Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid is part of Bentley’s long roadmap for electrification. The carmaker plans to have its entire lineup to consist of hybrid vehicles by 2026, with its first pure-electric model to debut in 2025. The entire lineup is targeted to be purely electric by 2030.
