2022 F2 Round 8 Austria Qualifying: Jehan Daruvala Qualifies 11th For Feature Race

Round 8 of the 2022 Formula 2 season begins with Prema Racing’s Jehan Daruvala qualifying 11th for the feature race at Austria. His teammate and fellow Red Bull Junior driver Dennis Hauger will start 15th on the grid. 

The 30-minute qualifying session saw a spate of track limits violations caused many disqualifications. Despite all that, it was looking like a tough session for Daruvala and his teammate over one-lap pace as the team struggled to crack the top ten.

By the end of the session while Daruvala was 13th quickest, a few lap time deletions due to track limits violations promoted Daruvala to 11th position. That being said, his 11th place grid slot won’t change anything for the 28-lap/121km sprint race as the grid is decided by the top 10 qualifiers lining up in reverse order. The same is the case for the 40-lap/172km feature race, as the qualifying results decide the grid order. 

The sprint race on Saturday will commence at 9:30pm (IST). All races will be broadcast on Star Sports.
