  • Its powertrain includes a petrol mild-hybrid, strong hybrid and a petrol with CNG option.

Maruti has finally pulled the wraps off its flagship Arena compact SUV, the Victoris, launched at Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The Victoris makes a strong position for itself in this popular segment with a long list of features, along with petrol, hybrid and even CNG powertrain options borrowed from its sibling, the Grand Vitara.

And if that wasn’t convincing enough, this time Maruti has silenced its critics by securing a perfect 5-star safety rating in both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP. So, if you were planning to walk into a showroom for a Hyundai Creta or Kia Seltos, Victoris has just stepped in with its gloves on, saying, ‘Wait, check me out first.’

Design

The Victoris goes for a sleek and sharp look in the front with a full-width LED light bar that instantly grabs attention. The SUV also gets projector LED headlights tucked inside black housings, with segmented DRLs sitting on top to give the face a bit of drama. The bumper has a sculpted look with LED fog lamps at the corners and a wide blacked-out air dam in the middle, while a faux silver skid plate at the bottom adds some contrast.

From the side, you’ll notice the squared-off wheel arches and thick cladding that it borrows from the Grand Vitara and 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The mirrors and pillars are all blacked out for a sportier touch, while the roof gets silver flush-type rails and a shark fin antenna. The new Maruti SUV comes with seven monotone colour options, out of which three can be paired with a black roof for dual-tone.

At the back, the tail-lamps stretch across the width, but instead of being one continuous bar, they’ve been divided into small segments, much like the DRLs up front. The turn indicators are neatly integrated within this strip, too. A roof-mounted spoiler, a bold Victoris badge and chunky bumper cladding finish off the modern design.

Interior & Features

Inside, the Victoris greets you with a modern-looking black and off-white theme, and a layered dashboard finished in dual tones and soft-touch materials. A 10.1-inch free-standing touchscreen is there as the centre piece. As for features, the cabin is equipped with a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charging pad, a head-up display (HUD), an 8-speaker Infinity sound system, dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents and 64-colour ambient lighting.

It is also the first Maruti car to be equipped with a level-2 ADAS suite.

Rivals

The Victoris slots straight into the mass-favourite and competitive SUV segment in India, hence going up against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq. If you’re curious to know how Victoris stand against its key rivals, you can check out our detailed comparisons:

ZigSays…

The Maruti Victoris is not just another compact SUV added to the list. What sets it apart is the unbeatable Maruti service network, the promise of strong efficiency and now, for the first time, a proper features list and crash safety record that can genuinely take on the Koreans and Europeans. The Creta and Seltos may still enjoy their fan following, but this time, Maruti has arrived with a product that can hold its own against them. If you wanted a Maruti SUV that is stylish, safe and smart, the Victoris looks like the one that ticks all those boxes.
