The all-black Tata Safari will be available to order in the top two trims: Adventure and Accomplished. Here’s all what has been changed

Tata Motors is all set to launch the updated Safari on October 17. Pre-launch bookings are open and the three-row SUV will come in four broad trims: Pure, Smart, Adventure and Accomplished. And like before, the Safari can also be had in the all-black Dark Edition, as long as you pick one of the higher-end variants.

Let’s take a closer look at how the all-black Safari looks in the flesh in our gallery.

Tata Safari Dark Edition - Exteriors

The Tata Safari Dark Edition is finished in an Oberon Black shade along with a gloss black grille, a black air dam and skid plate. The all-black front end highlights the LED DRLs which come with welcome and goodbye lighting. The indicators, meanwhile, get a sequential function.

At the sides, the Black Edition comes with all-black cladding, along with a chrome ‘Safari’ badge on the front doors. The 19-inch wheels are finished in black paint as well.

At the back, the Dark Edition gets a chrome ‘Safari’ emblem on the tailgate. The car also comes with LED connected tail lamps that get animations like the front lightbar. The rear skid plate, too, is finished in black, unlike the silver of the regular variants.

Tata Safari Dark Edition - Interiors

Inside, there is an all-black theme throughout the cabin. The Safari Dark Edition gets black seats along with an all-black steering wheel. Do note that the interior theme changes depending on the variant you pick, as explained here.

The dashboard gets a large 12.3-inch infotainment that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, complemented by a 10-speaker JBL system. To check out the 10 new features that have been added to the new Safari, check out this report.

Safety features on the car include seven airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill assist, a 360-degree camera, and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The Safari also comes with ADAS tech, including adaptive cruise control.

Tata Safari Dark Edition - Powertrain

Tata has retained the 2.0-litre diesel engine for the Safari Dark Edition. This unit develops 170PS and is paired with a 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options.

Prices of the Dark Edition have not been revealed yet, but we expect a slight premium over the normal variants. The updated Safari is expected to command a premium over the outgoing model, which was priced from Rs 15.84 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with the likes of the MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV700, and Hyundai Alcazar.
