It has a lower, sleeker stance than the existing RR Sport and inherits the larger Range Rover’s smooth body lines

A new spy shot has revealed the upcoming third-gen Range Rover Sport ahead of its official unveiling on May 10, 2022. The premium SUV will slot between the Velar and Range Rover in Land Rover’s lineup. We expect it to be launched in India later this year, at a premium over the existing Sport which costs Rs 91.27 lakh to Rs 2.19 crore (ex-showroom).

The 2022 Range Rover Sport has a noticeably sleeker, low-slung stance. In comparison, its predecessor had a more upright A-pillar and a boxier aesthetic. The bodywork appears taut with flush door handles, fewer creases and smooth curves.

It’s a bit hard to see the front fascia in the picture, but you can clearly spot the new, narrower headlights and front grille. The air dam seems to extend all the way to the base of the front bumper where it meets a more prominent splitter.

We don’t know much about the interior yet, but a recent teaser has hinted at a more minimalist, cleaner design theme. The Sport gets a similar floating infotainment touchscreen as the big Range Rover, but it’s angled towards the driver and mounted over a centre console that curves down towards the armrest. The three-spoke steering wheel seems to be based on a similar design as the two-spoke wheel in the big Rangie.

We are likely to see a set of mild hybrid 3-litre petrol and diesel powertrains in the next-gen Range Rover Sport. It’ll likely retain its 2-litre petrol engine as well that makes 300PS in the India-spec RR Sport. The top-spec SUV is likely to get a new BMW-sourced V8 petrol engine that produces 530PS and 750Nm in the 2022 Range Rover.
