Hyundai has been teasing its micro SUV for a while now and has finally revealed its launch date. Called the Hyundai Exter, this latest offering from the carmaker will be out in the open on July 10. Pre-launch bookings are open and Hyundai has also revealed that this SUV will get some segment-first features.

Hyundai has confirmed that the Exter will get a single-pane sunroof with voice assist, similar in functionality to the 2023 Verna. Also, the Exter will be equipped with a dashcam with dual cameras (front and rear) and will come with three different recording modes: Normal, Safety and Vacation. None of these features are offered on the Tata Punch, its primary rival.

Apart from these features, Hyundai’s micro SUV could also be equipped with automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, cruise control and push button start/stop. In terms of safety, its features have already been revealed, the Exter will get six airbags as standard, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a rearview camera.

The Exter will be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which can be found on the Grand i10 Nios. This unit churns out 83PS and 114Nm and will be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. Hyundai will also offer this engine with a CNG kit mated to a 5-speed manual transmission only.

The Hyundai Exter is expected to be priced from Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards; and once launched, it will go up against the Tata Punch, Maruti Ignis and Citroen C3.
