Say Hello To The All-Electric Mercedes-Benz CLA With EQ Technology!

Ahead of its scheduled launch later this month, Mercedes-Benz has lifted cover off the new all-electric CLA with EQ Technology in India. Bringing some modern technology to the entry-level luxury sedan segment, the latest product from the brand offers futuristic styling, retro-cool interiors and a huge range figure. 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric: Exterior

The new CLA Electric gets a curvy exterior design. The front fascia consists of a drooping bonnet, a massive illuminated hexagonal grille and a unique connected headlamp cluster with a ‘tri-star’ signature for the DRLs. The bumper features aggressive cutouts.

When viewed from the side, the sedan has a low coupe-like roofline, combined with 18-inch alloy wheels and flush door handles.

The rear-end styling sports connected LED taillamp cluster with a ‘tri-star’ pattern as well. The bumper is relatively simple as well with small vertical cuts on the edges along with a faux diffuser with chrome appliques. 

Keen-eyed viewers will also spot the boot lip design mimicking a spoiler.

2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric: Interior

Inside, the CLA Electric gets a fully-upright dashboard, which gets backlit design elements. It also gets Mercedes’ new 6-spoke steering wheel along with a massive central infotainment screen and a digital driver’s display. The carmaker has moved the gear shift controls to the steering column, the result of which is a clean centre console, which only consists of the cupholders and a silver finish.

The sports seats for the front passengers also get heavy bolstering and a unique look, and are made from recycled materials. They come finished in a special fabric made from recycled PET bottles.

2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric: Features And Safety

The CLA Electric gets plenty of modern features, including a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system with MB.OS, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, powered, ventilated and massaging front seats, wireless charging, fixed panoramic glass roof, AR-based navigation system and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Safety features in the CLA Electric include a Level 2 ADAS suite, 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, front and rear parking sensors and hill hold assist. Notably, it is also the safest car tested by Euro NCAP in 2025 and carries a 5-star crash test rating. 

2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric: Powertrain

Under the hood, the CLA Electric gets a massive 85.5 kWh battery pack, which allows for 792km of WLTP-certified range. This is mated to a unique 2-speed automatic transmission for better efficiency at higher speeds. Here are the detailed specifications of the CLA Electric:

Notably, it also gets an 800V architecture, which supports up to 240kW DC fast charging and can add up to 400 km of range in just 20 minutes. Mercedes-Benz has also retuned its suspension to cope with Indian roads.

2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric: Launch Date, Expected Price And Rivals

While Mercedes-Benz hasn’t confirmed a launch date, the CLA Electric is expected to launch next month. It is likely to be priced from Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be available in a single CLA 250+ variant. 

When on sale, the CLA Electric will have only one direct rival in the BYD Seal. Although it could also be considered an alternative to the Kia EV6.
