Mercedes-Benz has officially launched the CLA Electric in India at Rs 55 Lakh (ex-showroom), marking the debut of its new electric sedan in the country. Offered in two trims, the CLA 200 and CLA 250+, this EV replaces multiple entry-level models and aims to bring a more modern, efficient and tech-focused experience along with a long range and strong performance. 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric: Variants And Price

Mercedes-Benz is offering the CLA Electric in two variants called CLA 200 and CLA 250+. It has also launched an exclusive 'Launch Edition' based on the CLA 250+ trim which brings some exclusive touches like a passenger entertainment screen, leatherette upholstery and specific cosmetic touches inside. 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric: Exterior

The CLA Electric carries forward the brand’s sleek coupe-sedan styling, now with a sharper and more futuristic design language. Up front, it gets LED headlamps with a star-shaped DRL signature, connected by a full-width light bar. The grille is now blanked off and features illuminated star motifs, giving it a distinct identity.

In profile, the car retains its low-slung stance with a coupe-like tapering roofline, flush door handles and 19-inch aero alloy wheels. It also gets gloss black side skirts with chrome garnish for a premium feel.

At the rear, it features connected LED taillamps with similar star-like detailing, along with an integrated bootlid spoiler and a gloss black lower half section for the bumper with chrome accents.

The CLA Electric is available in 7 colour options: Polar White, Obsidian Black, Cosmos Black, Iridium Silver, Mountain Grey, Spectral Blue and Patagonia Red

2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric: Interior

Inside, the CLA Electric follows a clean, minimalist approach, but there’s a a lot more going on beneath that simplicity. The cabin is clearly designed around screens and digital controls with very few physical buttons to interrupt the flow. The upright dashboard is dominated by a dual-screen setup, including a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The layout feels wide and airy, with a slim profile that gives it an almost modern, concept-car-like vibe.

It also features a three-spoke steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls and leatherette upholstery. The seats themselves look futuristic and sporty in design and use a mix of recycled materials, aligning with the EV’s sustainability focus.

Adding to the sense of space is a large panoramic glass-roof, which lets in plenty of light and makes the cabin feel more open than the car’s coupe-like exterior might suggest.

The CLA Electric features a cabin with a mix of comfort and convenience tech. Key features include a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system with MB.OS, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, powered, ventilated and massaging front seats, wireless charging, fixed panoramic glass roof, a passenger entertainment display, AR-based navigation system and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

On the safety front, it is equipped with Level 2+ ADAS, multiple airbags, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, electronic stability control, 360-degree camera, hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system and front and rear parking sensors. Notably, it was the safest car tested by Euro NCAP in 2025 and carries a 5-star crash test rating.

The new CLA Electric is available with a choice of two battery options based on the variant. Interestingly, despite being an EV, it also features a 2-speed gearbox for better efficiency at high speeds. Here are its detailed specifications:

The new CLA Electric also supports 240kW DC fast charging, which can add up to 400 km of range within 20 minutes of charging for the CLA 250+. Mercedes-Benz has also retuned its suspension to better deal with Indian road conditions.

The new CLA Electric has only one direct rival in the form of the BYD Seal. It can also be considered as an alternative to the Kia EV6 or the more expensive BMW i5.
