The upcoming ADV will be powered by the 648cc, parallel-twin cylinder engine found in the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650

Quick News Highlights:

- The Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 has been spotted testing

- The engine looks similar to the one found in the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650

- It gets the same TFT instrument console seen on the Himalayan 450

Royal Enfield rolled out the new Himalayan 450 last year and a few weeks ago the manufacturer launched the Guerrilla 450, the roadster based on the ADV. And now, it seems like it is working on a bigger sibling of the ADV as the Himalayan 650 has been spotted testing for the first time.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 650’s engine looks similar to the 648cc, air-/oil-cooled, parallel-twin engine producing 47.45PS and 52.3Nm found in the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650. The engine will likely be tuned differently to suit the ADV better. It gets dual disc brakes at the front and the inverted fork suspension seems to be adjustable. The Himalayan 650 gets a fairing integrated with the fuel tank and a big windscreen. The instrument console looks similar to the TFT unit with Bluetooth connectivity and Google Maps navigation found in the Himalayan 450

The rear section of the bike and the split-seat setup looks very similar to that of the Himalayan 450. It gets a two to one exhaust that is quite upswept like a rally bike. It looks like the bike gets a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheel setup. So, the spotted bike could be a more touring-focused version of the upcoming ADV. On another note, though, reports circulated last year that Royal Enfield was planning on developing a new 750cc platform. The first bike from that platform was expected to be a bobber and maybe an ADV after that. So, there’s also a slight chance that the manufacturer could have been testing its new platform instead.

For now, we are considering it to be the Himalayan 650. The ADV is expected to be launched by mid-2025 and it is likely to cost a premium of about Rs 20,000 over the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650’s Rs 3,63,900 (ex-showroom) price tag. It will rival the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Moto Morini X-Cape 650.
