Duster fans rejoice! Because Renault is planning to unveil the latest generation of the iconic SUV for India on 26 January, 2026. This marks the return of the Duster brand to India, which is credited with popularising the Compact SUV segment and has earned many fans to date. Now that Renault has heard the wishes of enthusiasts, here is a closer look at what you should expect from the 2026 Duster in 10 Images:

Exterior: Tough And Rugged

In keeping with the tough and rugged appeal of the Duster, Renault has given it a muscular design, giving it a more robust feel compared to other SUVs with a milder design. At the front, you have distinct Y-shaped DRLs with a massive ‘Renault’ motif on the grille. Lower down, it gets vertical air flaps and a chunky silver skid plate to deliver on the off-road credentials.

Towards the side, you will notice the 18-inch diamond-cut alloys, which, despite their larger size, still manage to convey an adventurous theme. It also gets thick cladding on the squared-off wheel arches and a plastic insert on the front door, along with prominent roof rails to maintain a simplistic charm. Another quirk of the Duster is the rear window-mounted door handles and muscular haunches, which mimic a two-door sporty look.

At the rear, it gets inverted V-shaped taillamps and a sharply raked windshield above which sits the spoiler. Just like the front end, the rear also gets a thick silver skid plate to convey the overall sporty and rugged nature of the design.

Interior: Contemporary And Hardy

The interior of the Duster carries forward the simple and functional design theme of the exterior. You get an upright dashboard with a high-set 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system taking the centre stage. You will also notice a ‘Duster’ motif on the passenger side of the dashboard and the Y-shaped insert on the AC vents. 

While the interiors of the Duster aren’t fancy, they are made to be spacious, durable and abuse-friendly, which also explains the extensive use of hard plastic, all-black theme and the absence of soft-touch materials. 

Features: All The Essentials You Need

In terms of the equipment, the Duster gets all the essentials like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 6-speaker ARKAMYS sound system, wireless charger, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, height-adjustable front seats, keyless entry and automatic climate control. That said, which of these will make it to India remains to be seen. 

In terms of safety, globally it comes equipped with 8 airbags, a Level 2 ADAS suite, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic parking brake and a rear view camera.

Powertrain: Petrol Power

Renault has not yet revealed the powertrain options that the Indian version of the Duster will get. That said, the global version of the SUV gets the option of a 1.3-litre mild-hybrid turbo-petrol, a 1.6-litre strong-hybrid engine and a 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with LPG as well.

However, we expect Renault to offer the Duster with the 1.3-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine with manual and automatic transmission options. The strong-hybrid and LPG powertrains are unlikely possibilities in the near future. Renault could also offer an all-wheel drive system with the Duster to enhance its off-road capabilities.

Launch Date And Price: An Eager Wait

Renault has announced that it will unveil the Duster for India on 26 January 2026. We expect the Duster to be priced from Rs 12 to 20 lakh (ex-showroom).

Rivals: Competition Is Heating Up

This announcement comes at the heels of a lot of action in the Compact SUV segment, with the upcoming Tata Sierra launching next month and the Nissan Tekton also being announced for a launch early next year. Notably, Kia is also readying the next-generation Seltos for a launch soon as well.

Of course, that still means the 2026 Duster will compete with other incumbents in this space, including the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Citroen Basalt.
