With these new additions, Porsche has bolstered its Indian lineup, but we hope to get the Dakar here soon

  • Porsche 911 T launched at Rs 1.81 crore (ex-showroom).

  • Porsche Taycan GTS launched at Rs 1.95 crore (ex-showroom), slots between 4S and Turbo trims.

  • Style Editions of the 718 Cayman (Rs 1.44 crore) and Boxster (Rs 1.48 crore) launched.

There has been a substantial revision to Porsche’s lineup in India as the German marque has gone and launched four new iterations of its existing models. The 911, 718 and Taycan get new derivatives that bridge the gap between their respective iterations.

Let’s take a look at the new offerings from Porsche:

911 T

Now that Porsche has maxed out the top-end of the 911 range with the GT3 RS, it is giving some love back to the base models. The 911 T or also known as 911 ‘Touring’ is the next to base 911 Carrera and sits below the 911 Carrera S.

Priced at Rs 1.81 crore (ex-showroom), the 911 T brings some of the standard and optional mechanical upgrades of the mid-spec 911 Carrera S . Puissance comes from the same 3-litre, flat-six, twin turbo mill as the base car, but here it produces 385PS, all of which is delivered to the rear wheels.

The mechanicals borrowed from the 911 S aided by the weight-saving techniques and handling aids, details of which have been jotted in our reveal article, offer a unique proposition in the 911 Carrera range.

The Style Edition brings contrasting hues to the base Cayman and Boxster 718s. Priced at Rs 1.44 crore (ex-showroom) and Rs 1.48 crore (ex-showroom), respectively, both models are powered by a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine belting out 300PS.

The new Ruby Star Neo shade with the contrasting white details can be had for the boxster, while the Arctic Grey with black accents is available for the Cayman. A set of 20-inch wheels derived from the 718 Spyder have also been bestowed upon the Style Editions. Both models also benefit from the addition of new creature comforts including a heated steering wheel and seats, two-zone auto AC, a reverse camera and parking assist.

Taycan GTS

The Taycan GTS is the closest you can get to the Taycan Turbo variants when it comes to having some fun, but without stretching your budget for the Turbo trim. Priced at Rs 1.95 crore (ex-showroom), the GTS is positioned between the 4S and Turbo trim and pushes 598PS from its dual electric motors. All details of the electric Porsche can be found here.

With these new launches, Porsche has further strengthened its Indian lineup. Going forward, we would love to have the 911 Dakar in India, which has recently shed covers globally. An electric Macan is also in the works and it would mark the foray of the German marque into the electric SUV space when it breaks cover sometime around 2024.
