As if the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 wasn’t hardcore already, the carmaker is set to debut a more powerful RS trim in November this year. It recently underwent the final testing phase at the legendary Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany, and the lap times suggest it would be a massive upgrade over the 718 Cayman GT4.

The GT4 RS lapped the legendary 20.6-km circuit in 7:04.511 minutes, a whopping 23.6 seconds faster than the 718 Cayman GT4. The model was fitted with a racing seat and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres (the latter will be optional when the model goes on sale eventually).

The carmaker hasn’t revealed much about the upgrades, but we reckon the 718 Cayman GT4 RS will get lightweight construction, more downforce, extra power, and improved chassis responsiveness. For reference, the 718 Cayman GT4 gets a 4.0-litre flat-six mill that delivers 420PS and 420Nm with an 8,000rpm rev limit. It’s capable of doing 0-100kmph in 4.4 seconds, with a top speed of 304kmph. We reckon these figures will improve in the more hardcore RS.

Expect more details during its build up to its November debut. As for us, we already have the 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 on sale in India, but we do expect the RS trim in 2022.
