Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series Launch Tomorrow: Here Are The Top 5 Things To Know!

We have seen Maybach SUVs and sedans, but never before in a two-door convertible body style, which makes things even more interesting. Maybachs are known for their luxury quotient, and the SL is known for its sporty attributes. Well, Mercedes-Benz has combined the two elements in the new Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, which is all set to be launched tomorrow. Ahead of its launch, here are the top 5 things you need to know: 

Design: Simply Spectacular 

The SL 680 Monogram Series comes in two shades - white and red. Both the hues are offered with a contrasting black shade, and whichever shade you opt for, the Maybach SL just looks magnificent. 

The fascia sports a premium Maybach grille and bumper, which looks opulent. There are plenty of Maybach logos at many places including the bonnet and lower section of the bumper. The primary red and black dual-tone colour adds to the exclusivity of the sports car. Furthermore, sleek and sharp LED headlights add to the charm. 

From the sides, it sports massive 21-inch alloy wheels that have a plush design similar to what we have seen on Maybach cars. The Maybach badging can be seen on the soft top roof as well, which is exclusive to this version.

The rear end looks rather sporty, featuring LED taillights and plenty of chrome elements around the diffuser. You also get Maybach lettering here, but there are no logos here, save for the Mercedes-Benz one in the centre.  

Interior And Features 

The SL is known for its sporty interior featuring AMG-specific bits; however, in the Maybach version, it screams luxury with a Maybach-based interior theme. The steering wheel and upholstery also feature Maybach-specific bits, which look unique on a sportscar since we are still not used to seeing the Maybach tag on an SL!

You get a large vertically positioned 11.9-inch infotainment and 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, and premium soft touch leather materials at most places. 

Apart from the screens it gets features like multi-colour ambient lighting and powered seats with memory functions. While we will get to know more about the features list tomorrow, we can confidently say that there will be no shortage in this department. As with most Maybachs, this one too is expected to be offered with plenty of interior themes which you can opt from. 

Powertrain  

The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series is powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine which churns out 585 PS and 800 Nm. It goes from 0-100 kmph in an impressive 4 seconds.  Power is delivered to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. 

Price And Rivals 

The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series is expected to be priced from around Rs 3 crore (ex-showroom). At the price, it will compete with the likes of Porsche 911, Lotus Emira, and Audi RS e-tron GT. 

Owning a fast and sporty car which also offers a luxe interior and a plush exterior would be a dream for many. The Maybach SL 680, with the perfect combination of sportiness and top-notch luxury, delivers just that.
