Maruti XL6 Updated With 6 Airbags As Standard, Prices Increased By…

Maruti Suzuki is on a mission to make its cars safer, and we can clearly see that as they are slowly updating each of their cars with 6 airbags as standard fitment. The XL6 which is positioned as their premium MPV, above the Ertiga, finally gets 6 airbags across all variants. Moreover, there is also a price increase associated with the latest update. 

Maruti XL6: What Are The Updates?

The Maruti XL6 is a more premium version of the popular Ertiga which was updated with 6 airbags recently. The XL6 now comes with 6 airbags across its Zeta, Alpha and Alpha+ trims. Earlier it used to come with 4 airbags comprising dual front airbags and front side airbags. With the update, curtain airbags have been added thereby taking the tally to 6 airbags in total. 

Maruti has also increased the prices of the XL6 by 0.8 percent. So the current price range of Rs 11.84 lakh to Rs 14.84 lakh (ex-showroom), will go up by around Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 depending on the variant you opt for. 

Other safety features available with the XL6 include ABS with EBD, ESC, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree camera, ISOFIX child seat mounts and a rear wiper with washer. 

There is no update in the powertrain department, as it continues to get the same 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid engine, making a total of 103 PS and 139 Nm. It also comes with a CNG option, but with a reduced power output of 88 PS and 121.5 Nm.

Considering the size of the XL6, the MPV needed 6 airbags and it's good that Maruti has addressed this. The XL6 had scored a decent 3-star safety rating in the Global NCAP, and the extra airbags will definitely help it fare better. We believe that safety should be of utmost priority and you should avoid cars that still do not offer 6 airbags. So with this update, recommending the XL6 becomes easier.
