  • A Tucson-like front grille, bolder bumpers, new alloys, and connected tail lamps make up the 2022 Hyundai Venue’s design changes.

  • Expected new features include a digitised driver display, larger touchscreen, new upholstery, as well as ventilated front seats.

  • Current powertrain options to be retained, Kia Sonet’s 1.5-litre diesel likely joining the fray.

  • To be priced at a premium over the current model.

Mark your calendars, as Hyundai will be launching the facelifted version of the Venue sub-4-metre SUV on June 16. Alongside the announcement, the carmaker also released some design renderings, giving us a glimpse at what’s changing with the Venue. Some dealers have also begun accepting bookings for the updated sub-4-metre SUV unofficially.

Looking at the official renderings, the first positive aspect is that it matches with the leaked 3D renders that surfaced just five days ago. So, to give the Venue a fresh lease of life, it's now got a Tucson-like,  squared-off front grille with the ‘Parametric Jewel’ design, and revised bumpers. While the 2022 Venue retains a split headlight setup, the indicators on top are now sleeker and longer. New 16-inch wheels aside, at the rear there’s a new connected tail lamp setup with elements inspired by the Ioniq 5 EV.

We’re yet to get to view the cabin, but the dashboard will likely be tweaked to plonk in a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the current model’s 8-inch unit. It could also get a digitised instrument cluster like the i20 hatchback, ventilated front seats and a Bose sound system. Other than a revised centre console and new upholstery, most features from the current model should be retained.

The 83PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 120PS 1-litre turbo-petrol, and 100PS 1.5-litre diesel engines will mostly likely be retained with manual, automatic, and clutchless manual transmission options depending on the motor. That being said, the Kia Sonet’s 115PS 1.5-litre diesel unit could join the line-up and be paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
