And it comes in two engine trims (125cc & 200cc), making it more accessible to a wider audience

  • The SR GT comes in a ‘Sport’ variant which gets special graphics and red alloy wheels.
  • The 125cc SR GT puts out 15PS while the 200cc model makes 17.6PS.
  • Both scooters get a start-stop system, LCD instrumentation, LED lighting, and dual-purpose tyres as standard.

Aprilia seems to be amping up its scooter lineup in 2021. We recently got the updated SR 160 and SR 125 in India and now, the company has taken the wraps off its first ever ADV scooter, the SR GT, at the 2021 EICMA.

The Italian company calls the SR GT an ‘urban adventure scooter’. And its design does full justice to this term. You get a high-set, signature tri-LED headlight and a smoked windscreen up front, along with a sharp LED taillight. The SR GT comes in three colours: Aprilia Black, Street Grey and Infinity Blue.

But if you want something more premium looking, the SR GT comes in a ‘Sport’ variant which unlocks three different liveries (Street Grey, Red Raceway, and Street Gold) along with sporty looking red alloys and a premium red-stitched seat cover.

Aprilia has packed the SR GT with all-LED illumination, a start-stop system, dual-purpose tyres, alloy wheels, a frontal USB charging port, and an LCD instrument similar to the India-spec 2021 SR 160

Now, to the engine. The Aprilia SR GT comes in 125cc and 200cc liquid-cooled engine options. The former uses a 125cc engine putting out an impressive 15PS and 12Nm, while the latter employs a 174cc motor belting out 17.6PS and 16.5Nm. Aprilia claims an efficiency of 40kmpl and 38.5kmpl for the 125cc and 200cc variants, respectively, meaning around 350km range for both scooters, courtesy their 9-litre fuel tanks.

The engine is housed in a double cradle chassis sprung on 33mm telescopic fork (with 122mm travel) and twin shocks (with 102mm travel), both sourced from Showa. Thanks to the tall suspension, the scooter has an impressive ground clearance of 175mm, which is almost as much as the Honda CB500X. Meanwhile, braking prowess comes from 260mm/220mm (F/R) single disc brakes while the safety net of ABS comes standard too.

From a practicality standpoint, the Aprilia SR GT comes with a 25-litre underseat storage and a front-mounted fuel filler cap, while tipping the scales at 144kg/148kg (125cc/200cc), which is certainly hefty for a scooter.

In the market, the SR GT is a natural rival to the Honda ADV150. While India isn’t really a great market for an ADV scooter, we sure hope Aprilia brings at least the 125cc SR GT here later next year.
