Mahindra has discontinued its full size flagship SUV, the Alturas G4, as confirmed by our dealer sources. The SUV manufacturer has delisted the SUV from its official website and bookings have been halted as well. For now, the XUV700 midsize SUV will be the carmaker’s flagship until its future and more expensive models arrive.

The Mahindra Alturas G4 is a full-size SUV that locked horns with its well established rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster. It was one of the most affordable models in its segment, but sadly, it simply wasn’t as popular as its rivals. Before the discontinuation of the SUV, Mahindra released a fully loaded rear-wheel-drive trim that was priced at Rs 30.68 lakh.

It was a fairly loaded SUV, with top feature highlights being an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, powered driver’s seat, HID projector headlamps, a single-pane sunroof, 360-degree camera, and powered tailgate. Safety was taken care of by nine airbags and electronic stability control.

The SUV was powered by a 181PS 2.2-litre diesel engine, paired with a Mercedes-Benz-sourced seven-speed automatic transmission. It was offered with rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive options, though only the former was offered prior to its discontinuation.

There is no true replacement planned for the Mahindra Alturas G4 at the moment. Most of the dealers have flushed out their inventory, though if you bump across one, now might be a good time as you can haggle for a tempting deal.
