Ahead of its unveiling next month, Renault has given us the first glimpse into the India-spec Duster with a teaser. Being one of the first offerings to kickstart the compact SUV segment in India back in 2012, we now know that its latest iteration will also get a reworked exterior design, with a few new elements compared to the global versions. Here is what the teaser shows:
While this teaser mostly focuses on tying in the new Duster brand with the earlier iterations, we get to see a key design detail in the form of a connected LED light strip on the tailgate of the new car, which is a departure from the global version’s rear-end styling.

This change may hint towards the fact that Renault, this time around, has given the Indian Duster a more unique visual identity, unlike the previous versions which had near-identical styling compared to their international counterparts.
Besides a few design differences, the new Duster is expected to remain similar to the global version which has been on sale now in markets like Turkey, Australia and Brazil. It gets a muscular and boxy styling theme outside, with horizontal DRL signatures, thick skid plates on the front and rear bumpers and triangular taillamps. Towards the side, it gets thick wheel arch cladding, prominent roof rails and even a rear door handle mounted behind the windows for a cleaner look.

In terms of features, internationally, it comes equipped with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 6-speaker ARKAMYS sound system, wireless charging, keyless entry and rain-sensing wipers. Safety features include 6 airbags, a Level 2 ADAS suite, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic parking brake and a rear view camera.

Under the hood, the global Duster gets a wide range of powertrains to choose from including petrol-LPG, mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid engine options, although the Indian version is likely to be powered by a 1.3-litre mild-hybrid turbo-petrol engine, the specifications of which are given below:

Notably, given the rugged personality of the Duster brand, Renault could also offer an all-wheel drive version as well as automatic and manual transmission options, the details of which remain unconfirmed for now. Read more about what we expect the new Duster to be like here.
Renault will be taking wraps off the new Duster for India on January 26, 2026, with a launch expected in the next few months. While we await confirmation on the pricing, it could sit in the range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).

When on sale, it will go up against SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, the new Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Maruti Grand Vitara and Victoris, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun as well as the upcoming Nissan Tekton which will carry the same underpinnings as the Duster.
Ever since its launch, the Duster has stood out to be one of the more no-nonsense, rugged and off-road ready options in its segment, carving out a niche for itself. This new generation only seeks to build upon those values and remains a critical product for Renault, which has been struggling for volumes in the past few years.
