Meet the Kia EV6 facelift, launched on our shores at Rs 65.9 lakh (ex-showroom). The EV6 was already one of the most desirable electric vehicles with attractive styling, a feature-loaded cabin and capable powertrains. With the facelifted iteration, it gets a tweaked exterior design, essential upgrades to the features, and larger battery packs which accentuate the overall appeal.

So if you are looking for a premium electric vehicle which provides an excellent overall package, then here are the 5 things you should know about the EV6 in its facelifted form:

Design

The facelifted EV6 has been made to look sportier and more modern. It features plenty of changes to its fascia, featuring reworked headlights and triangular daytime driving lights, also called ‘Star Map Signature Lighting‘. The bumper has also been redesigned and looks sportier now!

The overall length has been increased a bit now, but the overall body style remains the same. It sits on newly designed aerodynamic 19-inch alloy wheels. It continues to get the flush door handles which give it a premium and aesthetically pleasing appeal.

While the overall shape of the LED tail lights remains nearly identical, the lighting elements inside get a tweaked design. The major upgrade is in the lower half of the rear where it gets a cleaner bumper design which complements the overall design of the EV6.

Interior

Step inside and you will notice that the dashboard design and layout looks nearly identical to the outgoing model. It boasts a new curved panel which houses both, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. The steering wheel gets a new design, and you also get a fingerprint reader for biometric authentication. The interior is finished in plenty of premium leatherette materials and also offers well thought out storage spaces for your bottles and soda cans.

Features

There is no shortage of features, as the EV6 boasts an extensive list of premium amenities to keep you satisfied and entertained. Apart from the above-mentioned displays, you get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an upgraded heads-up display, augmented reality for navigation, remote parking assist 2, and digital key 2.0, a new 15W wireless phone charger. Additionally, it also gets over-the-air software updates, and additional digital features and services via the Kia Connect Store.

Safety is taken care of by an updated ADAS suite, 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control (ESC).

Powertrain

The facelifted EV6 packs a larger 84 kWh battery pack (up from 77 kWh). Larger battery pack means that its range has also gone up as it now offers an improved WLTP-claimed range of 663 km. It is powered by dual electric motors (all-wheel drive) which churn out 325 PS and 605 Nm. The Kia EV6 can complete a 0-100 kmph sprint in 5.3 seconds.

For faster charging, it uses 800V charging technology, allowing charging speeds of up to 350 kW. It takes just 18 minutes for the EV to recharge from 10 to 80 percent, while providing a range of 343 km in 15 minutes.

Rivals

The EV6 competes with the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Mercedes-Benz EQA, Volvo C40 Recharge, BMW iX1 LWB and BYD Sealion 7.

The facelifted model further accentuates and elevates the appeal of the EV6. It looks sportier now, and the updated features are also welcome. However, the most important thing is the fact that it now gets more range and faster charging!

In the pre-facelift avatar, it was available at Rs 65.95 lakh, and the updated EV6 has been launched at Rs 5,000 less. It is an overall win-win situation for buyers as these updates are great for keeping the EV6 relevant in the evolving market.

All these updates make the EV6 an even more compelling car. What do you think about the update? Would you pick it over the rivals? Let us know in the comments section.
