Performance in the Q6 e-tron’s moniker actually stands for efficiency rather than outright speed

  • Audi Q6 e-tron Performance variant revealed globally

  • It is the new entry-level variant in the Q6 e-tron lineup, slotting in below the Quattro and the SQ 6 e-tron variants.

  • Gets the same 100 kWh battery pack but a less powerful 326 PS electric motor

  • Still good enough for a 0-100 kmph time of 6.6 seconds

  • Bookings open globally, deliveries to start in Q3 of 2024

  • India launch likely either in late 2024 or early 2025

The Audi Q6 e-tron broke cover as the most technologically developed EV in the Audi range back in March 2024. A market launch is still due sometime in August, but the German carmaker has already expanded the lineup and the model’s appeal with a new entry-level variant. Called the Q6 e-tron Performance, it brings a rear-wheel-drive option to the SUV’s drivetrain and adds additional kilometres in the already impressive range offered by the other trims.

Let’s take a look at what the Q6 e-tron Performance variant is all about:

Powertrain

The Q6 e-tron uses a 100 kWh battery pack based on a 800-volt architecture supported by the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) underpinnings. The same setup is used for the new entry-level Performance variant, just that instead of being an all-wheel-drive model, the power is sent to the rear wheels only.

It gets a single electric motor, which puts out 326 PS, compared to the Quattro and SQ variant’s dual-motor 387 PS and up to 517 PS outputs, respectively. However, it still is decently quick in a straight line with a claimed 0-100 kmph time of 6.6 seconds.

That performance, although dull by EV standards, seems slightly more impressive when you consider you still get a WLTP-claimed range of up to 641 km. That number is the highest for the entire Q6 e-tron range and the best part is that it can gain up to 260 kilometres of range in just 10 minutes, thanks to fast charging capabilities of up to 270 kW.

In terms of styling and interior details, the entry-level variant will be similar to the standard Quattro variant. If you want to know more details about it, then head to our Q6 e-tron global debut story.

While global deliveries for the quattro variants revealed in March 2024 will start in August itself, the single-motor Performance variants will start reaching customer homes in the third quarter of 2024. Order books are open globally, and we reckon an India launch could take place in late 2024 or early 2025. When launched, it’ll sit below the flagship Q8 e-tron and rival the likes of the  BMW iX and Volvo EX90.
