Tata Motors has declared that the Bharat NCAP 5-star safety rating, first given to the Nexon EV in 2024, is now extended to all models of the Nexon EV 45. This implies that all variants of the Nexon.ev, including those launched subsequent to the first BNCAP crash test, now meet the highest standards of safety.
As per the earlier tests by Bharat NCAP in June 2024, the Nexon EV scored well in both adult and child occupant protection categories. Here's how it performed:
The SUV scored an impressive 29.86 out of 32 in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category. The score further branches out to 14.26 out of 16 in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test, and an even better 15.60 out of 16 in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test, with outstanding crash resilience from every direction.
As for Child Occupant Protection (COP), the Nexon EV continued to prove its worth with an impressive score of 44.95 out of 49. Further segregating it, the car scored 23.95 out of 24 in the Dynamic Test, a full 12 out of 12 for Child Restraint System (CRS) Installation, and a commendable 9 out of 13 in the Vehicle Assessment criteria.
Aside from crash test data, the Nexon EV also comes with an extensive package of active and passive safety equipment that adds protection. Across the variants are six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and ABS with EBD, which reduce vehicle loss of control and occupant injury during abrupt manoeuvres or hard braking.
The SUV is also equipped with ISOFIX child seat anchorages, seatbelt reminders for all seats, and front seatbelts' pre-tensioners with load limiters for a safe fit for all. Such features as hill-hold assist, as well as front and rear parking sensors, add to driving confidence and city usability.
As per the revised annexure in the Bharat NCAP fact sheet, the below Nexon EV variants have now been certified with a 5-star safety rating:
Long Range 40 kWh models (now discontinued): Creative, Fearless, Empowered, Fearless Dark, Empowered Dark
Medium Range 30 kWh models: Creative, Fearless, Empowered
'45' range models: Creative 45, Fearless 45, Empowered 45, Empowered+ 45, Empowered+ 45 Red Dark
With all Nexon EV models now Bharat NCAP 5-star rated, Tata Motors is now the sole Indian carmaker to provide an electric SUV range that's fully 5-star certified.
In a market where numerous buyers still balance EV adoption with great care, you don't need to trade off safety in favour of sustainability. With strong safety credentials and practicality in everyday use, the Nexon EV is a great value for money package.
