MG has launched the Windsor EV on our shores, and with its aggressive pricing and segment-first features it is here to fight against the top-selling mass market EVs and make a name of its own. Arguably the most well received mass market EV in India is the Tata Nexon EV and in this article we will be comparing the new crossover from MG with Tata’s subcompact electric SUV. Let’s find out which of these two would provide more value for your money

A point to note is that Tata is offering massive benefits with the Nexon EV, thereby reducing its entry-level price from Rs 12.49 lakh to Rs 16.49 lakh, but this offer is only available till October 31, 2024.
The MG Windsor’s prices start from Rs 9.99 lakh and undercuts the Nexon EV by a huge margin, however, that’s not the whole story. With the Windsor, MG has devised a plan where the price you pay is only for the car and does not include the battery. You have to rent the battery separately at a cost of Rs 3.5 per km. Head over to our detailed story on the same to know more.

The Nexon EV comes with two battery packs, while the Windsor is offered with only one battery pack.
The Nexon EV, with its larger battery pack version, is the most powerful one here.
Both versions of the Nexon EV offer better claimed range.
DC fast charging times remain similar for both the EVs.
Using their respective AC wall chargers, the Nexon’s smaller battery pack version charges the quickest.
The Windsor EV has entered an EV space which is dominated by Tata SUVs. However, the Windsor EV comes with a few tricks up its sleeves which make it appealing and unique in the segment.
The Nexon EV has been tried and tested and is an SUV you won’t go wrong with. It looks likeable, offers a well-equipped cabin and offers a greater claimed range.
The Windsor’s attractive pricing and battery rental program might sound a little confusing at first. It also remains to be seen how this unique proposition works, especially in the longer run. That said, as a product, it provides a better experience for someone who wants to be chauffeur driven. It also comes with all the features you would like and has unique looks, which are one of its strengths.
What do you think about the two EVs? Will the Windsor EV be able to disrupt the Tata dominance? Let us know in the comments below.
