Jawa Perak Latest Updates

We recently had an interesting conversation with Jawa’s Ashish Joshi, where he told us about the manufacturer’s future plans for India. Read our story for full details.

Much like most two-wheeler manufacturers, Jawa too has increased the asking price of all of its models. The factory custom Perak bobber is now priced at Rs 1,97,487 (ex-showroom Delhi), which is a premium Rs 2,987 over its 2020 model. We did manage to get our hands on the Jawa Perak for a thorough road test. So, if you want to know whether there's enough substance in this stylish beaut, check out our road test review.

Jawa Perak Price

Jawa Perak price start at Rs. 1.97 Lakh (Ex-Showroom). Jawa Perak is offered in only one variant - STD.

Perak Specifications

It gets a BS6-compliant 334cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor that makes 30.64PS and 32.74Nm of torque mated to a six-speed gearbox. Jawa has revised the gear ratios for a better ride experience. Underpinnings include a new double-cradle frame suspended with telescopic front forks and rear monoshock with 7-step preload adjustability. Braking is via front and rear disc brakes with standard ABS.

Perak Design

The Perak features a blacked-out theme and comes with a tan-coloured single seat, blacked-out engine, exhaust and spoke wheels. The swingarm construction is similar to the Triumph Bonneville Bobber’s ‘swing cage’ unit. This setup allows for the rear monoshock to be neatly hidden below the rider’s seat. The tail lamp is located just below the seat whereas the indicators are mounted on the rear fender. In typical bobber fashion, even the front fender is chopped and the bodywork is minimalistic.

Perak Features

The instrument console features a minimalistic design with just the speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge. The bike gets a dual-channel ABS for optimal safety. Since the wheels are spoked, it gets tubed tyres on both ends. The bike is strictly a single seater as the design of the swingarm does not accommodate a pillion seat.

Jawa Perak Competitors

At Rs 1.97 lakh, the Jawa Perak is the most affordable true-blue bobber that you can buy in the country. The Royal Enfield Classic 350, which comes as a single-seater as standard with the pillion seat added as an accessory, is its nearest rival. The dual-channel ABS variant of the Royal Enfield Classic 350 is priced between Rs 1.69 lakh and Rs 1.86 lakh. The bike also goes up against the Benelli Imperiale 400 whose prices start at Rs 1.99 lakh. For the price of the Perak, one can also consider bikes like the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and the Honda H'ness CB350.
All prices, ex-showroom Delhi.

Editor's View of Jawa Perak

  • Upside

Looks stunning; Engine is more versatile and usable; Isn’t shy to show off its sporty handling genes

  • Downside

Build quality isn’t great; Lacks modern features; Cramped riding ergonomics

  • Our Verdict

As a style statement on wheels, there are no bikes in its price bracket that do the trick as well as the Jawa Perak. It is nice to ride with a more versatile engine on board. Sadly, the build quality is still not up to the mark and the cramped riding posture deters you from a great bobber experience.

An amazing bike to ride. This bike is so well designed and thought of that there are no further modifications that you need to do.This bike is a racing bike with a vintage look. The single-seat takes some time to get used to, Especially when others comment about it, But rest assured you will understand that this beautiful bike is meant to be ridden solo.

I have a Pulsar 220 dts-i 2009 model. Still running like a beast. I am on budget, I couldn't find any other bikes under 3 lakhs which could impress me since pulsar 220 back in 2009. Well, i was impressed with 200 but then, the bookings closed for 200 and 220 had started. So... I took a test drive today and was simply mind blown away with the initial pick up and the power (Totally missing in RE for this age and time). I loved everything riding this Legendary bike to be. Yes, there are some cons. Well, to start with, ground clearance is quiet low 160mm I believe, unless you are a careful rider, this is not going to be a right choice for off road activites. Second, yes, you guessed it right. 'The Pillion seat.' Indian mentality asks for a pillion on a bobber but hey there are many engineers out there who could take a challenge or two thrown at them but then again, not recommended as the RTO registers it as 'Single Seat Vehicle.' My GF is the only person who I wish this feature was available for but I still got pulsar with a back seat ;). Nonetheless, I am going to have a wonderful time with this beast. I have tried to give as much information as possible below, do let me know if you need any more information. Yes, I booked the vehicle and the delivery is going to be in the month of September to the least :(. To add to all this, Corona has taken most of our precious time away. Stay safe, stay Clean! After 6 months of booking, i got my perak. The bike got an appealing look. I was attracted with its bobber style. I have bought it for daily commuting. I am the first owner of perak in j&k. Acceleration and performance wise its pretty good. O-100 in just about 8 seconds. Dual channel abs totally helps in controlling the bike when you are riding at more than 100 kmph. I am riding this bike continuously from the past 20 days and thats the pros i felt about this bike. Now talking about the cons. First thing first, the odometer position is totally way forward, while riding, the rider cannot see the down side of the odometer as its face is way forward. Next thing, suspensions are poor, if you are riding at more than 50kmph, it cannot protect you from even small potholes, you will feel super uncomfortable. At even 25kmph, you cannot run over a speed breaker, as the bike will hit the ground due to low ground clearance. Its a super hard bike with poor suspension. Next thing, the horn is very bad as compared to its look. Even activa scooter has better horn than perak. Another thing, the mileage i am getting is about 20-21 kmpl while company claims it to be 35 kmpl and thats too low. Last thing, the side stand is small and it cannot stand on off-road surface as it has a risk to fall down.Final words, its a small ride city bike, that can only be ridden on flat and clean road with no bumps at all (which is not possible on indian roads). So buy only if you are super comfortable in accepting big shocks on small pits for spending around 2.5 lacs on a jawa bobber bike.

The bike is great to look at from a distance. But once you approach the bike, You find a lot of wires, Panel gaps and body work asymmetry. The bike is extremely fun to drive in the city, While not disappointing on the highway. The seating position, Although semi-sport, Is very comfortable and not at all stressful for upto 1.5hrs of driving. The suspension was stiff when i got the bike, But got really great at damping after sometime.I never had issues with the ground clearance, Even when i took the guy off-road.I have deep scratches on the right exhaust and left stand, Caused due to leaning during a corner. The bike handles like a charm even at high speeds(if you have the balls).Although i've been tempted to remove the fuse of the abs for more bite, The fact that i've been saved multiple times because of it has prevented me from doing that.Overall the bike is pretty good, And given the fact that not everybody is going to spend 2+ lakhs on a bike with only 1 seat makes it all the more unique and special.I love my perak (bruce).

Performance wise it's a beast! Looks wise out of the world. Immense road presence. It's a bobber and jawa1itself says it's not for every one. It's for people who like to cruise and have a good riding experience. Its a bobber and India's first economical bobber. Pros - Very good balance, High power, Seat height is low so helps for short riders, More beautiful than your Girlfriend, raking is good, Ride posture very straight and relaxing. Cons-Suspension is on the stiffer side (adjustable though), Engine heats up fast, Light is halogen so less bright, Low ground clearance, Sound with db killer is not good enough.

Must Read Questions & Answers Before Buying Perak

Q. I have purchased jawa perak now in lockdown period the bike is not in use so any suggestions to maintain it?
  • Keep your bike clean, keep a check on your two-wheeler’s brakes, oil levels, and electrical components, particularly before firing it up every morning Don't forget to check the condition of your chain and ensure the tension is right at least once a week. Also, we would suggest you to get your bike timely serviced. Moreover, you may refer to his article.
Q. My jawa perak is not starting after two months shutdown.

Q. Which bike will be more better for me Royal Enfield Classic or Jawa Perak for city ride purpose?
  • Jawa perak ko chala k dekho !! bobber is for daily commute !! in a way you can do it but no touring also!! harley Davidson k bobbers ko dekhe ho kavi ?? if yes then both r same thing first youtube pe jao bobbers ko dekho kis kaam k liye ye use hota hsi and which type of people uses bobbers !! btw hip hop guys k liye bobber nahi hai !! its metal and rock and roll Indian bike consumers r the most stupidest public !! kavi pu6te hai bobber me extra seat nahi lagta
  • Firstly, don't compare Harley with Jawa Perak, even though both are based on a bobber design, both are way too different on specs. RE Classic is a very much city bike and its pillion seat is a sure ad-on. Perak is a very comfortable single seat long ride motorcycle, its a style motorcycle, its use will surely be limited. So if someone wants a good road presence, Perak is the machine.
  • It all depends on what one needs. If a person needs a more fuel efficient vehicle, has a need to carry a pillion rider and mostly does city riding, then of course I would put the Splendor before the RE. I am sure the Perak is a great motorcycle for a Lone Ranger with lots of cash and a passion for long rides.

Q. Can we install pillion seat to Jawa Perak?
  • It's nearly impossible for jawa to fit a pillon seat in perak. It is a bobber and the entire rear section, I mean the fender cover and rear wheel is a part of swing arm. It's basically a part of rear suspension and expect it to move up and down as a whole. So I don't think rear seat's possible.
  • Ypu are realy true bro becouse i realy like jawa perak and now i sale my bullet classic 350 m waiting perak m so excited to see this bike ek question ha mera perak kya single seat hota double seat ye confusion ha bs double seat acha hoga agr aye to
  • We cannot say yet but the Perak is a super cool bike even the youngsters would get a die heart fan of the new perak .The sales of RE electra and classic 350 are going to get low after a while because of the new JAWA's
