Expert's Opinion on Pulsar 125 (2019-2026)

Overview

The most affordable Pulsar
The most affordable Pulsar
  • The Bajaj Pulsar is the most affordable motorcycle to bear the Pulsar badge
  • It looks the same and shares the underpinnings as the bigger Pulsars which makes it quite an appealing package
  • It is also one of the most heaviest 125cc motorcycle sold in India

Design

A familiar silhouette
A familiar silhouette
  • Looks the same as the Pulsar 150 and gets a sporty persona
  • Comes with sleek body lines, sharp headlamp, clip-on handlebars and the digital console
  • The design is unmistakably Pulsar and catches your attention on road
  • The design has remained unchanged for over a decade
  • The headlight design feels outdated along with the halogen headlamps

Performance & Mileage

Not the quickest 125cc motorcycle
Not the quickest 125cc motorcycle
  • The 125cc engine has enough low-end torque to get moving without much throttle input
  • The engine is quite responsive and is comfortable at riding at highway speeds of 80kmph to 90kmph
  • Delivers a tested mileage of 51.46kmpl in the city and 57kmpl on highways
  • The high kerb weight of 140kg for the single-seat variant is quite high which affects its outright performance against rivals
  • The engine struggles to provide enough power to overtake at highway speeds

Handling

Light on its feet
Light on its feet
  • Despite the high kerb weight, the Pulsar 125 is very easy to manoeuvre in traffic
  • The bike maintains its composure on fast, sweeping corners
  • The front brake is quite responsive and helps stop the bike very well
  • Not as agile as its rivals which also weigh quite less
  • The drum brake at the rear is not quite as responsive as the front brake and does not provide enough stopping power

Ride Quality

Does the job
Does the job
  • The telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers offer a pretty good ride quality in the city
  • Absorbs bumps and potholes quite well, and is very comfortable to ride in the city
  • The suspension struggles a bit on rough roads especially when carrying extra weight
  • The rear feels a bit on the firmer side when going over sharp bumps

Comfort & Storage

Decently comfortable
Decently comfortable
  • The seat height is very approachable at 755mm for both tall and short riders
  • The seat is soft and wide enough for most riders and delivers a comfortable riding experience in the city
  • The soft padding means you will lack support for long rides
  • The same is the case with pillion as it lacks support for longer riders
  • People taller than 6 feet will be uncomfortable and will have a cramped riding posture

Features

Lacks modernity
Lacks modernity
  • Gets a semi-digital LCD console which is very simple and easy to read
  • Comes with backlit switches which add a modern touch
  • The motorcycle is very outdated when it comes to features
  • The LCD console lacks smartphone connectivity features and does not get an LED headlight

Verdict

Should you buy the Bajaj Pulsar 125?
Should you buy the Bajaj Pulsar 125?
  • The Bajaj Pulsar 125 is a good motorcycle if you want a fuel-efficient commuter which can handle occasional highway trips as well
  • While it isn’t the fastest or the most agile bike in its class, it is a great value for money option
  • One could get better options for the same price range with more power, lighter kerb weight and more features

The Bajaj Pulsar 125 is a good bike for people who want something stylish and practical for daily use. It feels like a proper1Pulsar, even though it comes in the 125cc segment. it doesn’t really look like a small engine bike. The fuel tank, headlight, and overall body1shape give it a strong road presence.
