Audi A5

Audi has replaced its entire A4 line-up with the new range of A5 models for the international market. The new A5 is based on the Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture with an extended wheelbase and now gets a mild-hybrid powertrain. The A5 model range gets new exteriors and interiors with added features and equipment list.

Price: Expected price to be around Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom) upon launch.

Features: The interiors of the Audi A5 are feature rich with niceties such as an 11.9-inch digital driver's display, a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, and an optional 10.9-inch passenger display, which are housed in the dashboard's driver-oriented curved display. It also has a heads-up display that can be set to control different aspects of the vehicle. It will have all the other amenities such as wireless phone charging, multi-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof (for Indian models), powered front seats with memory function, powered tailgate, and wireless phone connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. On the safety front, it comes equipped with multiple airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree surround view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and ADAS features.

Engine: Internationally, the A5 models are available in three different powertrain options. It gets a 2-litre TFSI turbo petrol engine which can be had in two different states of tunings producing 150 PS and 204 PS. It can be had with either a front wheel or an all wheel drivetrain. It also gets a 2-litre TDI turbo diesel engine which produces 204 PS and 400 Nm. The turbo-diesel engine additionally gets a 48-volt mild-hybrid system which aids in reducing emissions and provides extra 24 PS. The more powerful S5 model range gets a 3-litre V6 TFSI turbo-petrol unit along with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system which churns out 367 PS.

Rivals: The Audi A5 rivals other mid-size luxury sedans like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the BMW 3-Series LWB.
