The manufacturer has also launched their electric scooters in Italy

TVS Enter Italy

TVS Motor Company has launched operations in Italy. The manufacturer has launched the Apache RR 310, Apache RTR 310, TVS Ronin, TVS Raider 125, NTorq 125 and the Jupiter 125 along with its electric scooters: the TVS iQube and TVS X as well. The sales of the TVS bikes and scooters will be handled by TVS Motor Italia.

The Italian licensing system divides two-wheeler licenses into 3 categories: A, A1 and A2. The A1 license is issued to new riders and is limited to bikes that produce less than 15PS (so mostly 125cc motorcycles). The A2 license is the next one and is limited to motorcycles that produce 47PS. Whereas, the A license is for experienced riders and includes bikes which produce more than 47PS.

With these launches, TVS is now in a good position to target both A1 and A2 license holders in the Italian market. The TVS Raider, NTorq 125 and Jupiter 125 will be marketed towards A1 license holders as all 3 offerings produce less than 15PS. The Raider, on the other hand, will make for a good beginner bike.

The electric scooters will also be targeted towards the commuter market, with the iQube being an electric family scooter alternative to the Jupiter 125. The TVS X, on the other hand, can serve as an option for those who are looking for performance-oriented electric scooters. The decision to launch the TVS X in Italy though, is a bit funny given that the deliveries of the e-scooter haven’t even begun in India.

Additionally, TVS is also offering a range of e-cycles including the Cilo, EGO Movement, Simpel, and EBCO ranges. Which offers a variety of mountain bikes and city bikes. TVS had acquired a 75 percent stake in EGO Movement back in 2022 and has now launched the e-cycles for the European market.

Once riders gain enough experience with beginner bikes, they can move on to higher performance offerings like the Apache RR 310 and Apache RTR 310, both of which are geared towards A2 license holders. The Apache RR 310 is powered by a 312.2cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder,liquid-cooled reverse-inclined engine which produces 34PS and 27.3Nm. The RR 310 will compete with other supersports such as the KTM RC 390.

The RTR 310 on the other hand comes with the same engine but features a different tune and the engine produces 35.6PS and 28.7Nm (1.6PS and 1.4Nm more). The RTR 310 will compete with other bikes in the 300-400cc segment such as the Honda CB300R, KTM Duke 390,  and the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401.

Lastly, TVS is also offering the TVS Ronin as well. The Ronin is more of a cruiser/roadster and is powered by a 225.9 cc, single-cylinder, 4-valve, air and oil-cooled engine that generates 20.4PS and 19.93Nm.
