Volvo has released 2 teaser images of the all-new S90 which will possibly serve as the replacement for the S80.

Volvo has recently released teaser images of the all-new Volvo S90 saloon that will make its global debut at the Detroit motor show in January 2016. The S90 will be the replacement of the existing S80 model and will be launched in the market placing itself in a higher segment. The S90 has been built on the basis of the Concept Coupe Design which will be seen on all future models to be offered by Volvo.

Looking at the teaser images we can say that the S90 is almost production ready. On the exterior, the front gains instant attention because of split-slit headlamps with ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED signature. The front grille receives a chrome rectangular design with vertical slits and a sharp bumper makes the front all the more unique and elegant. The daylight opening on the side profile and the eye catching C-shaped LED taillights at the rear round up the new look.

We believe the Volvo S90 will be launched with the same engine options as available on the bigger sibling XC90, namely a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine paired to an eight-speed gearbox. Like the S80, the new Volvo S90 sedan will go up against models like the Jaguar XF, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5-Series and the Audi A6.
