Tom Tom have introduced two new Portable Navigation Device (PND) christened the Start 20 and Start 25. The Start 20 features a 4.3-inch screen whereas the Start 25 sports a 5-inch display. Both the Start Series navigation device provides navigation across 7,300 cities spread in our country without any data roaming charge being applied for using the GPS system.
Another useful feature of Tom Tom Start Series navigation system is that the manufacturer provides free lifetime maps alongwith free map update service four times a year. The voice guidance and spoken street names feature is available in 14 Indian languages including Hindi and English. The system also features IQ Routes technology that enables the driver to choose the shortest route alongwith information regarding expected journey time. The Tom Tom Series navigation system sports splits screen option that informs the driver exactly which turn to take at complex junctions.

Another useful aspect is the Landmark Navigation, which is a India specific feature for its PNDs that allows searching for destinations by its nearest landmarks like chowks, parks, etc. According to the manufacturer one of the major criteria while developing the navigation devices was to keep it compact and lightweight. The Tom Tom Start 20 navigation device has been priced at Rs 9,499 whereas the Start 25 would retail for Rs 10,999 and both these portable GPS devices are available at leading car accessories stores and on online portals in India.
Apart from the GPS system, Tom Tom has also launched new range of in-car phone mounts for smartphones and iPhones. The mounts come with an adhesive disk, which means the device can be mounted on the dashboard as well as the windscreen. The mount can be adjusted to clamp the phone from top or side thereby avoiding the inconvenience of the USB port and the buttons getting blocked. The Tom Tom phone mount features an adjustable holder cradle owing to which the phone can be held with or without its cover. Phones when plugged to TomTom’s in-car phone mounts for charging, charges four times faster in comparison to a regular charger. TomTom in-car phone mounts are available online and at car accessories stores across India for Rs 2,990.
