You Can Now Name Skoda India’s Upcoming Sub-4 Metre SUV

Skoda Auto India’s pavilion consisted of five new models making their India debut. The main highlight was the launch of the brute Octavia RS245. We also got to see the new Karoq and the facelifted Superb in the flesh. Further, Skoda also showcased the recently unveiled Vision IN concept SUV at the event. Here’s all the action at the Czech carmaker’s pavilion:
Octavia RS245 Launched:
The brute Octavia RS245 was launched at the expo for a princely sum of Rs 36 lakh (ex-showroom). It features the RS230’s 2.0-litre TSI motor that has been upgraded to develop 245PS of power and 370Nm of twist. All that force is sent to the front wheels via a quick-shifting 7-speed DSG. The result? It does the 0-100kmph run in 6.6 seconds and maxes out at 250kmph. Apart from the heart upgrade, the RS245 comes with mechanical and cosmetic upgrades. Karoq Premium Midsize SUV Unveiled:
Skoda’s answer to the niche Jeep Compass will be in the form of the Karoq midsize SUV. It’ll be launched in the country in April 2020 and will be offered with a petrol engine. The Karoq’s biggest brownie point is its Kodiaq-esque styling inside-out. It’ll be offered with features like a panoramic sunroof and connected car technology. Powering the Karoq is a 1.5-litre TSI unit developing 150PS and 250Nm. Prices for the Karoq are expected to start from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
Superb Facelift Unveiled:

Skoda’s facelifted Superb, which was revealed in 2019, debuted in India at Auto Expo 2020. Styling updates are minimal yet sharp. The front end comes with a sharper grille design, new bumpers and LED headlamps. In profile, changes are limited to new dual-tone alloy wheels while the rear comes with split new tail lamps connected by a thin chrome strip. The Superb facelift will also be offered with a powerful 2.0-litre TSI motor developing 190PS. More details here.
Kodiaq TSI Breaks Cover:
The Skoda Kodiaq gets a heart transplant in the form of a new BS6-compliant 2.0-litre TSI motor developing 190PS of power and 320Nm of torque. This motor will replace Kodiaq's existing 148PS 2.0-litre TDI engine. Transmission options for the Kodiaq TSI include an all-wheel-drive system and it’ll be available with a 7-speed DSG only. The Kodiaq TSI is slated to hit showrooms by the end of 2020.
Rapid BS6 Unveiled:
The Skoda Rapid will be offered with a TSI motor for the first time. The engine in question is the new BS6 compliant 1.0-litre TSI unit developing 115PS of power and 200Nm of torque. It’ll be offered with a 6-speed manual and a dual-clutch automatic transmission. This motor will also replace the existing 1.5-litre TDI and 1.6-litre MPI engines in the Rapid.
