Land Rover has launched, what it calls, the world’s finest SUV, in India. The most expensive version of the Range Rover yet, the SVAutobiography Dynamic variant, has been designed and engineered by Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) Special Vehicle Operations (SVO). So what sets the SVAutobiography Dynamic apart from the regular Autobiography variant?

To start with, this version of the Range Rover gets the all-aluminium 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine that you’d normally find under the bonnet of the F-Type S and the Range Rover Sport SVR. This engine mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox produces close to 550PS and 680Nm of peak torque. Jaguar claims this 3-tonne SUV can hit a 100kmph from a standstill in 5.4 seconds. That’s sportscar level of performance in a luxury barge! Quite recently, SVO also plonked this massive engine into the first truly hot version of the XE and the XJ luxury limo, called the Project 8 and the XJR575, respectively. But that’s digressing from what we should really focus on here.

In terms of appearance, the SVAutobiography Dynamic gets unique Graphite Atlas accents on the outside and exclusive red Brembo brake calipers to stop the beast. The SVO team has also given it exclusive 21-inch wheels, a chrome-finished grille, bespoke SVO badging on the tailgate and knurled ‘Range Rover’ lettering on the bonnet.

But where this version truly shines over the Autobiography is inside the cabin. Like the XJR575, the Rangie gets the finest diamond quilted leather seats with a level of craftsmanship that is usually found only in more expensive cars like a Rolls-Royce. The rotary gear knob and the Grand Black front and rear door veneers feature a red accent letting passengers know that this one has been tinkered by the mad blokes at SVO. Knurled detailing can be found on the Stop-Start button, armrest adjustment and the key fob. The rear centre console gets a bottle chiller compartment to keep..er..your preferred choice of poison cold! Hmm, so where do you place your glass then? Well, you get power-deployable tables that fold out at just the press of a button. Oh, and did I mention you even get support for your tired calf muscles after sitting all day in a business meeting raking in more moolah? Who needs a business class ticket anymore, especially when you also get a 29-speaker Meridian Surround Sound system which pumps out 1700W. There’s even a 10-inch InControl Touch Pro touchscreen infotainment system to keep the chauffeur happy.
