Tata’s about to launch a special edition variant of the Tigor which, according to spy photos, will be called the ‘Buzz Edition’. This, we hope, is a stopgap solution till the very desirable JTP performance version of the compact sedan is launched.

The Tata Tigor has been fighting it out with the Hyundai Xcent for the number two spot in the sub-4m sedan segment, which the Maruti Suzuki Dzire leads by miles. The Tigor will also have to fight it out with the all-new Honda Amaze which is expected to be the new number 2 in the segment.

The Buzz Edition, like the Tiago Wizz Edition, is all about cosmetic updates. The Tigor Buzz Edition will feature a gloss black roof, gloss black ORVM covers, red highlights on the grille and wheel covers and a ‘Buzz’ badge on the bootlid. Inside, the Tigor Buzz gets red highlights around the A/C vents and, if the Tiago Wizz is any indication, red highlights on the fabric seat covers too.

The Tigor Buzz is based on the mid-spec XT variant which is priced at Rs 5.56 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs 6.45 lakh for the diesel variant (ex-showroom Delhi). The XT variant gets safety features like dual-airbags, ABS+EBD and corner braking control, front fog lamps and rear parking sensors.

The Tigor Buzz will be available with both a petrol and a diesel engine, both paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, ‘Revotron’ petrol engine develops 85PS of maximum power and 114Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, the 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged ‘Revotorq’ diesel engine develops 70PS of maximum power, 140Nm of peak torque and has a real-world tested efficiency of 17.43kmpl in the city and 24.31kmpl on the highway.
