Global tyre major Michelin on 18 December, 2013 inaugurated two new Michelin certified Recamic tyre retreading facilities in Tamil Nadu, to bring quality retread solutions for the truck & bus customers in the region. The new plants are located in Chennai and Pudukottai region and have been set up in collaboration with TVS Tread, the retreading arm of TVS Group, with the primary objective to work together towards the advancement of the retreading sector in the Indian commercial vehicle segment.
The two new facilities from Michelin and TVS TREAD will provide quality retreading solutions for radial tyres that will help reduce operational costs for transporters. Collaborating for the cause of higher tyre mileage and fuel savings, these new retread facilities will further help in differentiating performance of Michelin tyres by improving on the second and third lives of the Michelin casings. The announcement comes as a strategic move with both the companies sharing a strong focus to help the truck/bus fleet owners to optimize their operational costs. Said Thom Clark, MD, Michelin India said, "Due to the recent fluctuations in the raw material prices, vehicle operators need to extract the maximum performance out of every single radial tyre on their fleet. We expect to leverage our partnership with TVS to help grow the retread industry in the country and also expand our footprint in India".
Agreed V N Ramamoorthy, CEO, TVS TREAD, "With the current synergy with Michelin who are world's no 1 in radial tyres and retreading solutions, TVS TREAD will be able to offer quality retread solutions to the growing commercial vehicle customers in Tamil Nadu."
Chennai and Pudukottai are rapidly evolving to be one of the fastest growing industrial sectors in India. The retread store is strategically located based on proximity to a large number of existing and potential users.
