Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupe Launched At Rs 74.80 Lakh

Mercedes-AMG has launched the GLC 43 4MATIC Coupe at Rs 74.80 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This is the steroid-infused cousin of the humble GLC available in the country. The steroids are of course courtesy of AMG. Where the standard GLC gets a maximum of 245PS, the AMG Coupe gets a boost of 122PS from its growling V6 engine. Another change here is that the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC is a coupe and hence you don't get the conventional boxy shape, but a sporty sloping down roofline flowing nicely into the boot. This will be the third variant in the GLC lineup and only the second coupe-styled SUV with the three-pointed star in the country.

Let's get right into the heart of the matter. The long-named Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC packs a 3.0-litre, turbocharged V6 petrol engine which with a gentle tap of the pedal lashes out 367PS of power and 520Nm of torque. Mated to this engine is a 9-speed automatic transmission which sends power to all four wheels. Though an SUV, the AMG GLC 43 can reach 100kmph from standstill in just 4.9 seconds.

The AMG GLC 43 also comes with five driving modes - Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. Where the first four are self-explanatory, the last one lets you assemble a combination of various elements like steering, engine, transmission and suspension from different models.

Though the power is the centre of attention of this car, Merc has not forgotten its luxurious roots and you get all the bells and whistles which the other GLCs get, plus that added AMG attitude. Outside, the SUV flaunts 19-inch, 5-twin-spoke AMG alloy wheels, an AMG body kit and the diamond radiator grille with chrome pins and ‘AMG’ badge. Get inside the SUV and you will find 'AMG' badging everywhere, remind you to be gentle with the throttle.

The steep price of the SUV is because it is a CBU. At this price, the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC rivals the likes of the Porche Macan and the Jaguar F-Pace.
