McLaren has unleashed the ‘Albert’, the last iteration of the Speedtail prototype concept out of the 106-car production run. This automotive masterpiece was developed to attest the driver ergonomics, check out the central driver’s seat and rear-view camera positions.

But the Albert’s highlight is its teardrop-shaped design, claimed to be one of the most aerodynamic shapes in nature. Sure, the front end might seem a bit too similar to the 720S as the British carmaker has used the same panels as the sports car. But the side profile, with its elongated sloping roofline, looks exquisite.

It took McLaren more than 12 weeks to construct this illustrious piece of art. The body panels are made out of ‘1K gloss visual carbon fibre.’ And out of the 12 weeks, a good six weeks were taken by the painting process in itself. The vehicle needed to be disassembled and all panels were painted individually to achieve a flawless finish.

The front end of the Albert is finished in Ueno Grey and rear in Magnesium Silver. Next, the body panels are fitted back, after which the final coat is applied. The end result is a car that looks absolutely stunning to our eyes.

Then there’s the driver’s central seating position, which is clearly inspired by McLaren’s F1 car. But to make this a more practical offering, the prototype does come with two additional seats, making it a three-seater.

It’s also the fastest McLaren car to be built to date, courtesy of its 1070PS hybrid powertrain. At max attack, it can go up to 402kmph and can cover an insane 112 metres per second! It was also the first Speedtail prototype to be driven on public roads.

The Albert will be showcased to the public on August 08, 2021 in a Cars and Coffee event in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. This ultimate masterpiece will then head to the McLaren showroom in Beverly Hills.
