This could be the Harley for all in the future

  • The manufacturer has unveiled three electric bicycles at a dealer meet abroad.
  • Harley-Davidson hasn’t revealed the technical specs yet.
  • The e-bicycles could head into production soon.
  • It seems like Harley-Davidson wants to be in the limelight in some way or the other. Apart from updating its portfolio and adding an all-electric bike to its lineup, the American bike maker is now shifting its focus to bicycles -- e-bicycles to be more precise. The manufacturer had previously showcased a couple of e-bikes at the 2019 CES. Now, it has unveiled three bicycles at its annual dealer’s meeting.

As of now, there’s no information about its battery capacity, but the images do reveal that the lineup will feature pedal-assist. The company has revealed that the bicycles will be “light, fast, and easy for anyone to ride.” Additionally, the e-bicycles miss out on suspension hardware at both ends, hinting that these bikes could be primarily used in the urban environment.

The image also reveals that the electric bicycles feature just a single brake lever, which means that the bike maker could be using combined braking system with regenerative braking. We might see the production-spec avatars of these bikes at the upcoming EICMA, where the company might shed some more light on the bike’s actual specs.

Are these electric cycles just restricted to the world of motor shows and dealer meetings or are they actually heading for production? Looking at how Harley is focusing to revamp its image, we think that by next year you can see Harley-Davidson badged e-bicycles in showrooms. Additionally, these electric bicycles could also be used in the rental bike industry as we had reported a few months back.
