The mid-life refresh will see cosmetic and tech updates for the sedan

  • Styling updates include slimmer headlights, larger kidney grille, and new LED tail lamps.

  • Cabin to get new trim options, an updated infotainment system, and various driver assists.

  • Likely to carry on with the existing model’s petrol and diesel engines.

  • It will rival the Mercedes-Benz E Class, Volvo S90, and Audi A6.

Mark your calendars, the BMW 5 Series is slated to get a mid-life refresh in India on June 24. Unveiled in markets abroad in May 2020, the luxury sedan will get fresh styling, new tech, and some subtle revisions.

The major cosmetic changes are on the outside, with a larger trademark kidney grille, slimmer adaptive LED headlamps, and a new LED tail lamp design at the rear. Also expect an M Sport pack that adds sportier bumpers and M Sport alloy wheels.

On the inside, the 5 Series is largely similar to the pre-facelift model, but you do get two new trim options with gloss black inserts. While it retains BMW’s 10.25-inch i-Drive infotainment system, it will get connected tech with OTA updates. It also features various driver assists, such as an optional parking assistant with additional reversing assistant function, lane keeping assist, and lane changing assist.

Under the hood, though, the India-spec 5 Series is likely to retain the outgoing model’s petrol and diesel engines, paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Here’s a detailed look at their specifications:
