November is set to be a fairly busy month for the Indian auto industry

The festive season is underway and apart from the usual discounts and special edition models, it’s a time that sees an influx of new car launches in the country. The month of November has already witnessed the launch of the BMW X3 M, the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe, and exclusive editions of the Amaze and WR-V. Here are all the models in the pipeline:

Hyundai i20 2020

Launch Date: November 5

Expected Price: Rs 6 lakh

One of the most anticipated launches this month is, of course, the third-generation Hyundai i20 premium hatchback. Pre-bookings have already commenced and can be made either online or at authorised dealerships for a token amount of Rs 21,000. It will be offered in four variants: Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O).

The i20 is set to get a comprehensive generational update with a design similar to its Euro-spec counterpart that follows Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design language, albeit with some tweaks. The cabin itself is slated to be packed with features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen, BlueLink connected car tech, wireless charging and a Bose sound system.

It will be offered with three engine options: 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel. Expect a variety of transmission combinations like a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, iMT clutchless manual, CVT and DCT automatic gearboxes. The new i20 will rival the Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza.

Tata Altroz Turbo

Expected Price: Rs 7.99 lakh

Tata Motors is set to give the Altroz hatchback a spicier turbo-petrol engine in the form of the Altroz Turbo. It will be offered in four variants: XT, XT (O), XZ and XZ (O). It will be powered by the Nexon's 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes 110PS of outright grunt. This is 8PS more than the Geneva Edition model at 102PS. Also expect torque figures to exceed the Geneva Edition's 140Nm figure. A dual-clutch automatic tranmission could also join the manual gearbox in the near future. It will goup against the likes of the Volkswagen Polo TSI and the upcoming Hyundai i20 Turbo.

Tata Harrier Camo Edition

Expected Price: Rs 16.50 lakh

Another special edition on the way is the Tata Harrier Camo Edition. It will be offered in six variants: XT, XT+, XZ, XZA, XZ+ and XZA+. That’s the same as the Harrier Dark Edition. It’s likely to be priced at a similar premium of around Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 over to its standard counterparts. The other difference is that it will come in a green body shade with accents all over.

Expect the cabin upholstery to be similar to the Harrier Dark Edition but features are likely to remain unchanged. Under the hood, it will retain the  2.0-litre diesel engine that develops 170PS and 350Nm. Transmission duties are taken care off by either a 6-speed manual gearbox or 6-speed torque converter.  The Harrier takes on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector and Mahindra XUV500

Jaguar I-Pace

Expected Price: Rs 1 crore

The next expected car launch this month could be the Jaguar I-Pace electric SUV. It will be Jaguar’s first all-electric offering in the country. It will be offered in three variants: S, SE and HSE and up to 12 colour options. The SUV will be powered by twin-electric motors producing a combined total of 400PS and 696Nm. It's also pretty quick off the line with a 0-100kmph sprint in 4.8 seconds and a 200kmph top speed.

Juiced up by a 90kWh battery pack, the I-Pace delivers a WLTP-claimed range of 470km with fast-charging capabilities. It goes up against the Mercedes-Benz EQC and the upcoming Audi e-tron.

Audi S5 Sportback

Expected Price: Rs 76 lakh

During the launch of the Q2 SUV, Audi revealed that its next launch will be the S5 Sportback four-door coupe. Keep in mind this is the facelifted model that made its global debut at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. Highlights include a sharp single-frame grille with LED headlamps and DRLs, sporty bumpers, and Audi’s updated MMi infotainment system which can only be controlled via touch inputs. Expect features such as a premium sound system, various drive modes, keyless entry with push button start/stop, ambient lighting, and the latest version of Audi’s Virtual cockpit. Unfortunately, connected features like parking search, Google Maps updates, fuel and flight price information may not be available for the India-spec model.

Under the hood, expect a 3.0-litre petrol delivering 349PS and 500Nm with all-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission. It currently doesn’t have any rivals in India, but its pricing could be in the ballpark of the Mercedes-AMG C43.

Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine

Expected Price: Rs 40 lakh

Next up is the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine that debuted back in February at Auto Expo 2020. It will replace the CLA four-door coupe to become the carmaker’s new entry-level model in the country. Bookings are also open for a token amount of Rs 2 lakh. It is a proper five-seater sedan with features such as LED headlamps with sharp DRLs, a strong silhouette, and a swanky tail light design. It's fairly loaded on the inside too with a twin-screen layout consisting of the digital driver’s display and a touchscreen infotainment system. Highlights include electronically adjustable seats, Mercedes Me connected car tech, the latest MBUX software, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, a touchpad centre console, smartphone integration, voice commands and wireless charging. A reversing camera, lane keep assist and seven airbags are some of the safety features on offer.

The first variant likely to be offered is the AMG which was also showcased at the Expo, more specifically, the AMG A35 4MATIC. It utilises a 2.0-litre twin-turbo petrol engine that delivers 306PS of grunt and 400Nm of twist. It is paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox with all-wheel-drive. Standard variants would be introduced at a later stage with 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines, although detailed specs are yet to be revealed. It is likely to be a locally assembled model, so we can expect an aggressive price tag. It will rival the recently launched BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and the upcoming new-gen A3.
