After being discontinued back in 2017, the Honda CBR600RR is set to make a comeback. Honda has released a video with technical details about the new supersport which will be revealed on August 21. While we wait for finer details, the video reveals a lot like the new bodywork and new face.

The next-generation CBR600RR carries the same design language as the all-new CBR1000RR-R that is set to launch in India. Honda says the new bodywork is more aerodynamic than before. It gets the familiar-looking twin LED headlamps and the red, white and blue SP livery. Thankfully, the trademark underseat exhaust configuration has been retained. Instead of the previous semi-digital instrument console, the bike gets a large digital unit.

Honda has not revealed much about the motor except that it displaces 599cc and continues to use an in-line four-cylinder configuration. The new instrument console though has the rev counter set up to a heady 17,000rpm and the redline to 15,000rpm so expect a high-revving unit. It gets an air intake mounted between the fairing but unlike the flagship Fireblade that gets keyless ignition for unobstructed air passage to the airbox, the CBR600RR gets a physical ignition cylinder. Honda also promises better electronics so we can expect to see an IMU-based electronics package with multiple power modes, traction control modes, cornering ABS and the works!

With litre-class bikes now offering heady power outputs at outrageously high prices (Check out the CBR1000RR Fireblade price in India), enthusiasts are turning towards 600cc motorcycles for an affordable gateway to track nirvana. The Honda CBR600RR will take on supersports like the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R and Yamaha R6.
